Bustling With Activities - MDI
In the heart of Gurgaon lies the lush green campus of MDI Gurgaon. Even on a scorching summer afternoon, there is ample shade on the sidewalks. In fact the first thing one notices after entering the campus, are the trees on either side of the road. There are a lot of open spaces too. The small golf course on campus is ideal for strolling in the early morning.
A Fun Day At MDI
MBA journey is not as easy as it seems. It is hectic right from the Day1. Not only you have to prepare for your academics but also you have to prepare extra for the summer internships. So, you get very less time for your sleep say on an average 3-4 hours. Now, next day you have to keep your eyes and mind open in the class.
ManDevIan Diaries – Through These Red Brick Walls At MDI Gurgaon
If you are someone who sleeps for 8 hours regularly, the thought of sleepless nights during MBA can make anyone sceptical. But here I am, writing this article at 4 in the night or should I call it 4 in the morning, frankly, it doesn’t matter now. Few weeks into MDI, and I have already forgotten what 6 hours of sleep feels like. But I am enjoying it, feeling the changes in me, and equally in my sleep deprived batch mates. MDI is the most happening place, it practically never sleeps. Apart from the academic rigour, our lives here revolve around countless assignments, presentations, projects, clubs, competitions and a plethora of activities to make us involved all the time. And yes we watched Fifa world cup live, cheered together for our favourite teams and players, with the pressure of deadlines on our back of course. That one thing never goes, believe me, but one learns to live with the deadlines.
MDI Gurgaon : Mock Parliament In The Making
Being born and brought up in Mumbai, coming to MDI, specially to Gurgaon was a big change for me. I had entered a whole new world and there was a bunch of things to explore and experiment with. One of the highlights of the first few weeks on campus is an event called the KOK – Klash of Kings, an intra college sports competition. In this competition, there are various sports that students can take part in such as football, basketball, volleyball, tennis and several indoor sports as well.
Lively And Full Of Energy - MDI
Management Development Institute (MDI Gurgaon) has always been one of my dream B-School and after seeing the offer letter while nervously fidgeting felt almost surreal and too good to be true. Cut to the chase and it was my first day at MDI. The place felt lively and full of energy. I met many of the other first year students like me and we all conversed with each other, sharing our different experiences, our cultural and educational diversity along with the growing anticipation for the famous life at a B-School. We all roamed and discovered different parts of the campus and made ourselves comfortable with the new life. Talking about the new life, it was filled with rigour, consistency and perseverance. It showcased me the kind of personality and behavioural development is needed so as to face difficult challenges in the upcoming battles in the corporate world. But, everything was not all work and no play. Apart from the hectic schedules we all would get time to have fun clubs/committees session or just hanging out at our beloved Sharmaji Canteen at late midnight along with many event going on simultaneously. And one such event which is very much close to my heart is the annual intersection sports competition – KOK (Kings of Kings). It included many sports events and one such event was football. I am a football player but I got the chance to play football only till my 12th standards. During my time in undergraduate college also I was not able to play football at a regular basis and the same case happened while at work. So when I saw the chance, I decided to submit my name for the same. But later I found out that it was only for boys. Disheartened I was sure that these two years will also be no different than before. But MDI is always full of surprises. One of the senior who was coordinating the whole event discussed with me and assured me that they are ready to change the rules if I wanted to play. He also expressed his joy on knowing that a girl who plays and is enthusiastic about football is among us. Later I was also mentioned in a post by one of the rival team and appreciated for breaking the norms. It made me realize that MDI is truly a place which fulfils your dream and make you a part of its own – like a family and I feel truly blessed to be a part of this wonderful fraternity.
MDI Gurgaon – Through These Red Brick Walls
It has already been a few weeks that I have been given an opportunity to step into one of the most revered B-Schools of India – MDI, Gurgaon, and the journey till now has been nothing short of any roller coaster ride. There is a saying which says “The finest steel has to go through the hottest fire” and we at MDI are going through the same. Difficult case studies, strict deadlines, surprise quizzes are some of the facets of the grind that we are going through and this in turn has turned me into a completely different person. It has helped me to build a sense of discipline in myself and has sparked a fire in me to perform beyond my capabilities and to overcome my shortcomings. Being a person who likes to sleep, the initial few days were tough for me as I hardly got any time for the same. But the most beautiful thing about this campus is there is always an energy and that compels to strive hard for success. It has helped me overcome my anxiety while talking to new people in the social context and is currently helping me develop an extrovert personality. Faculty and peer interaction at MDI has helped me gain a better perspective of the human resource domain and has helped me to align my goals with respect to the field. But then again it is not always about academics, the campus gives an opportunity to showcase our talent either through various events like the inter-section sports competitions or through the activities of various clubs and committees and helps us build relations and memories with our peers which will remain with us till eternity.
