Realising Dreams, One At A Time - MDI
Life is all about the choices you make and decisions you take! One such decision landed me at MDI on 14th June 2018. And will the day ever fade for me? A big NO will be my answer. I was entering one of the most interesting and anticipated phase of my life, for which I have been dreaming and planning for so many years. The day had a lot of surprises in store for me none of which I had actually thought of. I was well aware of the rigour B-schools follow, but experiencing it first hand, that too from Day 0 when you expect nothing short of goods and glories was a shock then, to say the least.

Each one of us has come to MDI with our unique set of experiences and is set to charter more new ones. During the first day of induction process at MDI, sitting nervously in the auditorium were our young faces, eager to explore what the two years would entail for us and at the same time, carrying a sweet reminiscence of our past lives. Awkward conversations with people seated adjacent to us, trying out new conversation starters, meeting the eyes of passers-by with wry smiles, a little scared by the Director’s speech proclaiming an academic life full of vigour and further discussions in hushed tones. We were a bunch of strangers together on a voyage to eternal knowledge!

My flight landed in Delhi on a misty morning in June. The runway was barely visible as the plane landed and skidded to a bumpy halt. After a month here at MDI, I reminisce to the flight and smile at how my first memory seemed to symbolize my time at MDI.

On Buildings At MDI
I have seen quite a few colleges, schools or other educational institutes, they all might be unique in some way or the other and so is the case with Management Development Institute (MDI), the most unique thing which I feel at MDI is the name of the buildings here, the way they are made and statues of some of the great personalities. The name of the buildings here, for example Nalanda, Takshashila, Gurukul etc. on the one hand relate to the historical institutes and on the other develop an overall healthy environment of the college, tells about the vision of the institute and help in shaping the attitude of the students, and the way they are made create mental peace and gives mental strength, which is of utmost importance in a great B-School like this. The statues of some of the great humans India has ever had, for example Mahatma Gandhi, Buddha, Swami Vivekananda etc. signify their values, teachings, hard work, and their struggle, and motivates every one of us to try and inculcate the same attitude in ourselves. The environment created here truly reflects in all the faculty members, staff members, workers and students.
