Memorable Experience at MDI

Since the very first day at MDI, we got the glimpse of the hectic and unpredictable B-school life. I remember we were called for an impromptu quiz by our seniors about which none of us were aware and prepared. This is where the journey began, and with every passing day, I guess we have started to become used the lifestyle and unpredictability. The first 10 days which are called the “induction” period of the B-school life were the toughest, as we weren’t used to the stringent deadlines, sleepless nights and abundance of work on our shoulders. To add to the misery, were the days when we were made to stand under the burning sun in closed neck formals (Suit). We were made to stretch to our limits to the maximum possible, and there were times when I felt I won’t be able to take it anymore. I literally had emotional breakdowns and felt like quitting from the whole process altogether. Fortunately, I decided to give myself some more time to adjust and adapt to the new environment and frenetic routine. Gradually my body and I have become accustomed to the regime.

Even though it all started on a little agonizing note, it would be unfair to say that B-school life is only about the pressure and stress. The best part about being a part of a prestigious college like MDI comes with the kind of support and knowledge one gets from the seniors at the campus and the learnings through their own experiences. The legacy of MDI is such that one will never feel alone in times of distress and difficulty be it academics related or emotional or even related to managing time and stress due to the rigorous schedule, there will always be someone to help and guide you through the phase.  I was genuinely surprised by the kind of efforts the seniors (be it the individually allotted mentors or the prep team) put in to bring out the best in you and help you achieve the targets you build for your personal and professional growth. However, the journey to success has just begun and it would be too early to comment about it yet. But I truly believe that the perception I came with to MDI has drastically changed and I am sure I will be a changed person when I leave from here to pursue my future goals.

Aditya Birla Group Brand Association

Since Aditya Birla Group is a global corporation with companies spread across the world, catering to different businesses and segments, I believe working with it will help me gain exposure to the various demographics of the world. ABG is spread across various sectors be it automobiles, real estate, infrastructure (highways), textile, fashion, telecom and financial services. With such a wide range of sectors in which the company functions, it is difficult to choose one as all are doing exceptionally well. However, since I am personally inclined towards the fashion industry including branded apparels such as Louis Phillipe, Allen Solly, Peter England and Van Heusen, I would want to work in one of them. Amongst the companies listed, I would prefer working with Van Heusen for the simple reason that it is well known for its formal wear, catering to both men and women. In the present scenario where women are no less than men and are an equal part of the organizations and businesses, it is important for the apparel brands and companies to start working on Women’s formals as an altogether separate section. Although there are many more brands which are prevalent in this area, I feel Van Heusen is amongst the very few who have some variety available for women. If given a chance to work in this segment, I would want to widen the range of products and options offered to women.
