All Our Dreams Come True, Only If We Dare Pursue Them - IIFT

Walt Disney’s iconic quote, “All our dreams come true if we have the courage to pursue them” has stayed with me right from the time I decided to make a career in management. I only completely understood the power of that one line when I received a message from my teacher saying, “Congratulations Vibha, you’ve made us proud!” IIFT was my dream college since my third year of engineering. When I finally made it here, I was elated to say the least. Everything between that and my arrival in Delhi was just a whirlwind of events- teary farewells, frenzied shopping, pre-induction assignments and wrapping up my internship in haste.

Time Moves Differently At IIFT

When you wish to pursue MBA, you wish to pursue it from the best b-school, and if you wish to pursue MBA in International Business, you will want to do it from IIFT. IIFT is a cosy campus located in the greener area of south Delhi. It itself has beautiful gardens and overlooks Sanjay Van (an urban forest) and Qutub Minar. I am a budding bird watcher and I have spotted so many different birds in the campus already and cannot wait to explore more.

It was a sunny day interspersed with occasional summer breezes that I stepped into Indian Institute of Foreign Trade on a Sunday afternoon. I was greeted at the gate by an amiable security guard who was more than willing to direct me towards the C9 hostel as I had literally no clue as to the locationality of the allotted hostel facility. In that brief moment of inquisition I took a whiff of the aesthetics of the main block and surroundings, the angel of wisdom caught my eye because of its inadvertent amalgamation of perplexity and coherence it projected against the backdrop of the surroundings, it seemed to be aspiring to take flight and wistfully I thought maybe this portends my own aspirational philosophy. However, with a sense of objectivity, I slung my backpack and seated myself in the cab.

College is pretty straightforward – you’re stuck with the same bunch of people (some who don’t bathe) for pretty much the whole day. Classes, assignments, club meetings – if you don’t see each other for an hour or two, your friend has probably passed out somewhere. This crazy schedule demands a strong support system. The Road Taken To IIFT

When I arrived in Delhi to start the next phase of my life, I felt nervous as it was my first time alone in a North Indian city and especially Delhi. Fortunately, I had an old mate living over here and he made the transition easier. After starting college, everyone were so surprised as to hear my name as Rajesh Khanna as my looks and my origin ( I’m a south Indian) was not synonymous with a  North Indian and because of that, I became instantly famous. One major drawback was that the communication part was slightly lacking with my peers as I did not know Hindi but somehow I managed to connect with them and they played an integral part of me surviving the first week without much implications.
