Located at “Scotland of the East”, the city that is nestled between mountains and dense clouds, one would be mesmerized by the tremendous beauty it offers as they would make their path through the gates of IIM Shillong campus that is lined with tall pine trees and bright flowers as you walk to the main building. Studying in a paradise is the added advantage of being part of the IIM Shillong fraternity. Being in the abode of clouds, it is not uncommon to find the clouds wading through the campus making it even more picturesque. When the days are packed with tons of pre-reads, classroom sessions, case discussions, project discussions with the study groups, meeting the sacrosanct deadlines, a mini stroll through the zigzag roads in this scenic beauty is sufficient to rejuvenate and charge up our minds.

Born in 1997, she is among the youngest of the batch. When I first saw Reshma, I thought she was sweet naïve kid who just passed out of college. I have to admit I underestimated one of the smartest people in our batch. In the first week itself, she started excelling in all the assignments and activities given. She sounds like a book nerd, doesn’t she?! Try having a rap battle with her. She will crush you. A poet, writer, rapper, singer and an excellent student is how one would perfectly describe Reshma. Even these adjectives are probably too less to describe her.

They call it the “Scotland of the East”. They call it the place where the God resides. I got an opportunity to witness it on 22nd June 2017, when I visited Guwahati for the first time. With a lot of excitement in heart mingled with the proud feeling of getting an opportunity to fulfill your dreams, I landed in Guwahati. The journey from Guwahati to Shillong is mesmerizing and will give you a brief trailer of the wonderful picture that is going to happen in the next two years.

IIM Trichy is one of the new IIMs. I will join in it for its “IIM” tag, if nothing else. - I will admit these were the thoughts that ran through my head as I decided to place my bet on this relatively new institution. Will it add value to my career? Will my learning here be wholesome? Will I miss out on the job security that the older IIMs have to offer? I would wager that everyone who joined with me, their parents, relatives and neighbours discussed it at length. Inaugurated as the 8th batch here, I sought solace from the hope that the 7 batches before us took the same chance and survived, even excelled.
