IIM Kashipur being in the "Devbhumi" of India, the state of pilgrims, Uttarakhand, has countless things to offer apart from the prestigious IIM tag, and a weather you just can't miss. Every student must be having a different and unique reason for why they chose IIM Kashipur for their careers. My reasons are very nostalgic and naive. I belong to the North-Eastern part of India. And the place where I come from, Greenery and the love for nature is no new. Psithurism is a common thing each morning, and I am used to the tropical monsoon climate. Walking through the scent of petrichor in late summer evenings would be nothing less than an outstanding feeling. While choosing IIM Kashipur, that was one of the primary factors for me because the location is like a home away from home for nature lovers like me. IIM Kashipur is situated at the outskirts of Kashipur town. It is the only IIM among all the IIMs which gets to experience the exact situations of rural lives in India and get chances to influence that. On our way to the sparks and shines off the humongous corporate sector that awaits us, we should always look to give something back to the society, and through IIM Kashipur I was pretty much certain I would get a first-hand experience of such practices. IIM Kashipur fits all my requirements perfectly. And when I got into the institute, the expectations paid off impeccably. In the foothills of Himalayas, in the lap of India’s oldest National Park (Jim Corbett National Park) lies the IIM in the North, IIM Kashipur. Kashipur literally translates into “The Abode of the Shiva”, a city which has been named after Lord Shiva. This journey started when I got a mail from IIM Kashipur and the words “Congratulations you are selected” flashed on my screen. On the firsthand research, it was quite evident that IIM Kashipur was clearly different from all the new IIMs. It was the first one among all the new IIMs to move to its permanent campus.  Unlike other new IIMs of the country, IIM Kashipur is established in a rural underdeveloped location and hence this offers us a  chance to see real India through our own lens. It was established not only to raise future managers but also to develop the surrounding region as a whole. The professors and the guest lecturers often emphasize and motivate us to venture into social entrepreneurship.
