IIM Kashipur, a statement which draws a picture of a beautiful space in the hands of nature. Lush green fields, surrounded by mountains, it is the only B-school which gives you an eternal joy of living in nature’s lap.
A memorable classroom experience at my B-school
Situated an hour away from Jim Corbett and a three-hour drive away from Nainital, only a few colleges can boast of such a picturesque location. Surrounded by the blend of the mighty ranges of mountains and the dusky turquoise coloured sky adds to the beauty of the campus. The campus is not just home to the 400 students but home to hundreds of different species of flora and fauna gives us the serene atmosphere to our ever-hectic curriculum. The foxes and the crickets keep us busy all night with their song which reminds us of the assignments and their deadlines. It would be unfair to not discuss my fellow peers who make my campus a notch above in the scale of uniqueness. Hailing from the city of Chennai, the north Indian atmosphere is something different to me. My broken Hindi more often has been translated by my crew to the rest of the city to keep me understood. The feel-good atmosphere gives you a feel of family and the respect each person shows to the fellow competitor is something imbibed and adored in the IIM Kashipur fraternity.
During my school education, I had the chance to stay at a beautiful hostel in an even more beautiful campus. I used to think that would be the best campus experience I would have in my life. The initial days of my life at the IIM Kashipur campus with its red brick walls and green lustrous campus reminded me of those days. I began to entertain the thought that maybe; my two years here would be comparable to that past experience. I was wrong. The experience was way better than I imagined.
The campus here at IIM Kashipur is quite unique compared to other IIMs. Being the only IIM located in a rural background, it is far away from the hustle and bustle of a typical metropolitan and yet you won't feel a moment of humdrum due to the rigour of the curriculum. You can enjoy the vibrant nightlife in the campus and at the same time find a lone spot where you can simply lie down and enjoy the mother nature. This can hardly be found in the congested streets and incessant traffic in big cities.
You know how sultry the weather can get right after a heavy downpour? Well, it was the same that evening. We had just entered the classroom for another session after a long day and the air conditioner hadn’t kicked in yet. I sat there, sweating like a pig, with a vine of thoughts entangled inside my brain, each shoot trying to be the one I water.
