The day I received an email invitation for CAP interview, I knew what I was up for. There were 9 potential colleges to convert for and one to choose. The IIMs which participate in the CAP process is all colleges of equal caliber and possess a similar track record. They came into being 9-10 years ago and they all have shown tremendous progress in a very short span of time. Their placement records, infrastructure, industrial tie-ups: all of the parameters which determine any B-school’s wellbeing are top notch. Therefore for an entrant, to choose one among them is very puzzling. In such tight situations, location plays a crucial role for most of the aspirants and very well becomes single most important criteria for their choice.
I came to IIM Kashipur on 20th June 2018. As I was coming through Kundeshwari, there was a moment when all I could see was lush greenery and tall grasses. The evenings at Kashipur are indeed mesmerizing, but at that time I was very confused about how the campus would be given that there are not many buildings around the place and everything around was so green and quiet. As I was approaching the campus, I could see the red bricks, the beautiful humungous campus which blends in perfectly with the surroundings. I think this is the unique thing about IIM Kashipur. IIM Kashipur is directly in touch with Mother Earth, the environment that the students get here is unparalleled. If I had to define my IIM Kashipur campus experience so far, I would say take a modern infrastructure, add some state of the art technology along with latest facilities and blend them perfectly with green plantations, chirping of birds and flora and fauna all over the place.
It was a pleasant evening with a bit of swift cold breeze. I was waiting for my train at Pilkhuwa Railway Station to reach home. There were a very few people around as Pilkhuwa is a very small town, with station of 2 Platforms. I’m pretty sure, to all those passersby there was a certain charm in the silence, but it wasn’t the same for me. I had just written my CAT exam and my adrenaline level was beyond my control. I was anxious, relieved, happy and puzzled, all at the same time. I knew for sure, I did reasonably well but relatively how I did, I was still unsure of.

E-Cell club of IIM Kashipur is a student run club aiming to enhance the skills of students. They recently announce the registration of incubation centre which will help the students to start their start-up. It will enhance the creative thinking of the students who want their ideas to execute in the business. The name for the incubation centre is Foundation for Innovation and Entrepreneurship Development, IIM Kashipur (FIED). It will help the students in the following sector: - Agriculture & AgroTech, Logistics and Supply Chain, Clean Tech, Tourism, Social Entrepreneurship, Health Care / Ayurveda, FinTech. The incubation centre cover most of the sector so that no any student be left out in the campus. Parivartan club of IIM Kashipur aiming to help the people of Uttarakhand. They organise different events like nukkad natak and Kashipur Marathon. The purpose of these events is to spread the awareness about the social issues like education, Swachh Bharat, pollution, poverty, child labor, health etc. They organise these events at public forums of mall and street junctures so that many people will know about these issues. Parivartan club also reaches out to school to help the underprivileged children in their academics and engage them with the sports as cricket. In the festivals like Diwali, Holi and Christmas, Parivartan club always distribute the blanket, clothes and food to the poor people so that they feel good and be happy at least in the festivals. They organise blood camps to help the needy people.
When you begin your journey to IIM Kashipur, you start to realize that this journey will be a bit different from conventional journeys. The reason? The accessibility of IIM Kashipur is not the best, due to the slightly rural setting of the city of Kashipur. Well, you should try not to hold that against our campus, as it is this very rural setting that adds to the charm of our campus!
Surrounded by the Lush greenery of the Iconic Corbett forest area IIM Kashipur enjoys the gift of nature that any metropolitan could only wish for. When I started putting my thoughts on paper, I realized that there are a plethora of reasons and instances which will glorify the uniqueness of the institute.
Established in the year 2011, IIM Kashipur is the first of its kind opened in the rural heartland of the country. Located in the heart of Uttrakhand, our institute boasts of the natural aesthetic beauty that is located in and around the campus. The 200-acre lush green campus surrounded by the Himalayas is not just the only thing that makes our campus unique but there’s a lot more to it. Our institute is located in one of the most densely industrialized regions in the country with over 200 industries having plants in and around the region and many more coming up. This places the institute at a vantage point when it comes to ‘Learning by Doing’ via frequent industry interactions and live projects.
