The One With Nature - XAHR

The One With Nature - XAHR

My B-School, Xavier School of Human Resource Management is more than just a campus to me. Apart from the top notch Academic Courses it offers, the paramount significant Business Conclaves it organizes, it serves as a home to me. The best thing I like about the Campus is its location. It is situated a bit far from the main city of Bhubaneshwar where it offers a peaceful environment to foster our thoughts, study and mental development.

The First Experience At IIM Shillong

The First Experience At IIM Shillong

Every IIM student enters the campus with certain expectations. Though there are various things that one thinks about before joining the institute, good placements always tops the list. Like everybody else, I too had some peculiar expectations from IIM Shillong. My friends, who had completed their first year at an IIM always talked about the proud moment on their first day of the lecture, when they entered the classroom to find a seat with their names written on it. I always had a fantasy to enter an amphitheatre classroom and find a seat with my name written on it. However, on the first day of the lecture, as I entered the classroom, reality dawned upon me and I realized that I would never experience the feeling that my friends had, I would never get to see a desk with my names. At IIM Shillong, the classrooms have individual chairs, one needs to pull up the lid and take one’s seat. Dejected, I entered the room and occupied a seat on the last row. The professor entered and asked the class to introduce themselves. It started with a general discussion, people introduced themselves, shared their experiences, discussed about their hobbies. Everyone was busy talking to and interacting with others, when suddenly, someone from the front row started singing. Slowly everybody joined in and it turned into a jamming session. I joined too, enjoying the music, swinging from right to left, totally into the mood. For a moment I turned towards the window to take a glance outside, and that one look made my day! I was mesmerized by the beauty, I was lost in my reverie. The sun was hidden behind the beautiful clouds, a ray beaming through it lit the valley beneath, the view was breath-taking! I turned around, looked at my batch mates and realized that they were going to be my family for the next two years, this was going to be my second home. I no longer wished for a bench with my name, all I wished for was a wonderful two years of my MBA life.

The Campus Between Two Lakes - NITIE

The Campus Between Two Lakes - NITIE

Situated amidst the greenery with two lake fronts, the Vihar and Powai Lake in the hustle and bustle of Mumbai is God’s own campus NITIE. Being located in the financial capital of India is as such a boon by itself but to be in a green campus with serene surroundings with a lake on either side; and as if all that wasn’t enough with a very own campus pond with ducks and all (yes you saw that right ducks!!) is very refreshing and close to being in paradise. The best part of being in NITIE is that you get the best of both worlds. There is no dearth of opportunities being in Mumbai whether it’s the learning or recreational activities. Being in the city that never sleeps presents the opportunity to easily go and explore the city. You don’t have to experience the travails of city life with the pollution and dust being in a green campus on a hilly terrain. The feeling of residing in the campus is like that of being in a holiday inn or resort within the city (hmm…pricey!) for a fraction of what it would possibly cost (What! Seriously?). The views from the top floors are especially breath taking. With Hiranandani towers, IIT Bombay, Vihar Lake, Powai Lake being the main attractions apart from various tall buildings which are characteristic to Mumbai skyline. Both the boys and girls hostel are located below  while the academic block is located above. For the physically unfit or overweight and for whom gym never worked the wonders it should have, just making sure you attend classes in the academic block, that too on time, will ensure that you are back to the best of your health and physical condition within a few months! The secret to this is the famous 96 steps that lead to “upstairs” from “downstairs”. The climb upstairs accompanied with the time constraint to reach class on time is a good endurance and fitness workout for those who don’t get time to do proper workouts or fitness exercises. The greenery and trees also means that there are birds and not just a few, but loads of them. And birds mean……yeah droppings (face palm!). There are many who have been hit by these aerial shooters! So much so that there’s even an old wives’ tale or an urban legend (as you would like to look at it) doing the rounds in the campus that anyone who gets “hit” is guaranteed to get a PPO. I guess that’s what you can call as showers of blessings!

3 Things That Make IIM Udaipur Unique - Omkar Methavade

3 Things That Make IIM Udaipur Unique - Omkar Methavade

I’m a PGP 2017-19 student at IIMU. My journey with IIMU started when I got a call letter from the college in May 2017. I got added to the convert group and then attended the city meet in Pune. After doing my analysis, I decided to join IIMU over all other new IIMs. Within a span of a few days, I got connected to IIMU so much that now I can’t imagine that this journey of being on the campus is only for two years.

A Hidden Gem - My Unique Campus - NITIE

A Hidden Gem - My Unique Campus - NITIE

My first chance to come to Mumbai when I got the Interview call of NITIE (My Campus). I came a day before my interview and that’s the day where I saw a Nature’s beauty at its max. It was morning 9 O’clock when I came to God’s own Campus and that’s the day when I came to know the meaning of this phrase, a little bit drizzling which enhances the beauty of it. The room which was allotted to me was on 8th floor and the view from there is unimaginable because we all know that Mumbai is a city of Concrete and a place and a view like this drove me crazy. All this attracts me towards it but I am a mechanical engineer and in here we all know what does that mean. After joining it I came to know the culture of it and the relationship between juniors and seniors, which makes any institute fruitful if we have such seniors.

My Vibrant Campus - Kriti Kansal, IIM Udaipur

When I entered the campus a year ago, I had several questions running through my minds. I was excited and nervous at the same time. I didn’t know what to expect out of a premier B-School like Indian Institute of Management Udaipur. I could feel that something was different about the campus. The Director, Faculty, Alumni, seniors and all others were there to welcome us on the first day at the campus and gave us a feel of what it is like to be a part of IIM Udaipur community. Everyone seemed enthused about the mission and vision of the institute and keen on going forward to achieving it. As I became part and parcel of the IIM Udaipur community, I imbibed those values in me.

Although I have never attended any session or class in any other B-school in India, I have been to a few of them and talked to students from these B-schools many times regarding many things including academics, infrastructure, environment, and facilities.

A New Perspective On Handling Diversity - XAHR

A New Perspective On Handling Diversity - XAHR

Midway through the orientation and halfway in forming the perception of our much-awaited MBA life there comes a 90 minutes session on "Handling Diversity". Most of us were unable to understand the crux of this session because of the "diversity" in our perception. The session was taken by three of the most erudite Professors from the lot. The pedagogy which they followed to make us understand the root of “Diversity” is still well engrained.
