The moment I made up my mind to join XAHR, I had apprehensions as well as excitement creeping into my head. On 18 th of June 2018, I reached the mesmerising campus of XAHR. Located amidst a beautiful surrounding comprising of trees, small hills, it reminds me of the prose by Khushwant Singh where he describes his grandmother as calm and serene like a winter landscape.

IIM Shillong - An Adventure
One of the perks of being at IIM Shillong is the number of Treks one can pursue. You just have to travel a few kilometers, and you are in the lush green mountains. To make things even sweeter, one of the treks is organized by our faculty, and it has become an integral part of the Sustainability course that every student studies in IIM Shillong. I still remember the day when we went on the sustainability trek as it was one of the most memorable days in my B-School journey.

To many of us, these years we spend at IIM Shillong are both a beginning and an end. A beginning of careers and responsibility, an end for many of the path and roads through which we have journeyed in life. Whether we admit it or not, this last year represents a juncture, a decision which we take, or one which is thrust upon us. For too many, it is a finality, a setting of ways which for some is what they want, and for others, a resignation to accept their due. But perhaps it is how we view these moments, that make us think this. Life is not just about beginnings and ends, in fact, life has just one beginning and perhaps no end, For our legacy, our actions and the waves we make live on.

Academic Rigour And Excellence That Withstood The Test Of Time - JBIMS
These were the words of ‘Dr Chandrahauns R. Chavan, Director, JBIMS’ when someone asked him that what is it in JBIMS that makes its students the Achievers. And the words do justice to it. Founded in 1965, JBIMS is one of the oldest Business schools in India. Since then this Red building is helping its students achieve their dreams. JBIMS is situated in the heart of the city where headquarters of most of the companies in India are situated. The strategic location offers a holistic learning experience with academic rigour and interactions with eminent industrialists to gain pragmatic insights of Business. We have various guest lecturers where industry leaders come and share their journey, what are the current trends in the industry etc. These interactions are really inspiring, we get a new practical perspective of the academic leanings and get to see how these are getting applied in the real world. One of the major plus point of JBIMS is its Faculty. From ‘Marketing Guru’ to ‘Financial Wizard’ and from ‘Operations expert’ to ‘Industry Stalwarts’, you just name it and we have it. Most of these professors are working professionals and having vast experience in their field. Most of them are alumni of JBIMS who like to give back to the students what they have learned from their professors and also from their work experience. The rich alumni base supports the students and guides them by conducting sessions or mentoring on one to one basis. The various off summer projects are offered to the students and accessibility to the industry helps the students to successfully work on the projects. As students, we get opportunity to attend sessions conducted by prestigious institutions like IMC (Chamber of commerce and industry), BMA (Bombay Management association), FICCI (Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry) , SEBI, BSE and many other companies in Mumbai. It helps us to understand the relevance and importance of various happenings in the industry from various dimensions and develops an insight. As the campus is non-residential it teaches us the value of managing everything within the stipulated time. It can be from completing the projects within time to attending every lecture on time after travelling in Mumbai traffic, preparing for corporate competitions and also managing the committee work. Once you join JBIMS as a student you come to know that there are immense possibilities of what you can take away from your 2 years at JBIMS. However you have to work hard and become able to have it. And that is why I think JBIMS is one of the best B-schools in India.
