The best transition in a B-School is the transition from being a junior to being a senior. Though the basis of being called a senior is “We joined the college one year before you”, the difference in experience that the year makes is immense. Notably, a few of my best and worst habits have been a product of the influence seniors have had on me.
The Indian Institute of Management Nagpur is known for its flagship event Utkarsh, a yearly HR conclave. However, this year, 2020, the institute took a step further by organizing a first of its kind conclave with Utkarsh 2.0. The 2-day event held on 28th, and 29th November had esteemed guests from eminent Public Sector Undertakings who interacted with the students in four-panel discussions followed by an opening ceremony. The theme for Utkarsh 2.0, 'Rethinking and Redefining HR in the Post-Pandemic Era', was also intriguing for both the students as well as the panelists. It brought to the surface the disruptions in the HR domain caused by the pandemic, which is one of the most serious. It also outlined how professionals, in a sector as challenging as public, are jumping the hurdles effectively.
When it comes to management education in the country there are a few institutes who focus not just on creating global CEO/CXOs, but also have a natural social bent that it also nurtures in its students. Does it mean it is the only program of relevance offered by XLRI? Well, the answer would be a big no! After a long and testing journey, we all made it to an IIM. The endless series of mocks, doubt-classes, and interviews were all behind us. Nagpur, the center of India, awaited us, but the pandemic pushed the classes to be online. It did not dampen our spirits. The PGP 2020-2022 batch is the largest batch at IIM Nagpur in terms of students admitted, and we were welcomed warm-heartedly.
