I arrived at IIM Shillong starry-eyed and ambitious, and learned the first invaluable MBA lesson on my first day itself- Don’t look back! The moniker ‘Campus in Clouds’ is often enough to give people an idea of what awaits when they spend two years at my alma mater, but let me paint you a brighter picture.
It has been a year with India's a la carte business school - the third IIM of the country, i.e., IIM Bangalore. The welcoming, warm, and professional space warped in grey stone and lush green surroundings, IIM Bangalore, has been a dream institution for a soul like me. It was only last year when in June, I entered the hallowed portals of the place known as the #PlaceToB. I penned my thoughts about being captivated by the charm and effuse of this pristine campus in the Silicon Valley of India. Well, known as the Doshi's marvel (as Padma Shri and Pritzker Architecture Prize awardee, B V Doshi is the architect behind this beautiful campus), it is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful colleges in the country and unquestionably the most beautiful IIM campus.

The IIT Culture made me ready to take on the professional world with the right skill-sets. I worked for two years henceforth to further polish myself learning the fundamental mantras of the corporate culture. Performing academically as well as finding and pursuing interests in extracurricular activities made my overall personality grow. Hence, through my work of 2 years, I felt the need for professional management education, and also, to be honest, I wanted to live the best of institutional cultures all over again! So, I found my way into IIM Rohtak, a land which I considered to replenish my wings even more, and I was ready to cross the bridge from academic theory to management practice at IIM Rohtak.
The incredible journey of an MBA does not start on the first day of college. It begins with the idea of going for a degree and ending with finally getting that perfect B-school. After a year of preparation, hard work and slogging, finally came the day when I saw the message for the first time- “Congratulations. You have been shortlisted for Full-time Post Graduate Program in IIM Shillong”. This gave me an immense sense of pride and boosted my ego. After all, I had an excellent percentile, a decent work experience, and a very diverse background and was admitted for one of the most prestigious institutes of the country.
Imagine graduating from ParisTech as a mechanical engineer, and deciding to actually explore an engineering career. That's what our guest in today's video, Antoine Poirson, Partner at Antler, Co-Founder at StanPlus, INSEAD alum, Ex Project Manager Areva Solar and M.Sc. from ParisTech did.
