Life Of A Sports Aficionado At An IIM

The other day, a couple of friends and I were watching the fourth day of the first test match wherein India was pitted against South Africa in the recent India tour of South Africa. With just some 200 odd runs required in the finals innings, that too with a couple of days to play, the match seemed to be pretty much in favour of the Indian team. This could have been one of those odd times when India could have finally won a test match in a foreign pitch, but like every time the wickets tumbled down one after the other in no time and then, the Indian team didn’t even get to see the first session of the penultimate day, delivering another loss from a foreign pitch. This got me and my friends discussing how the Indian team always does this.

Exceptional, Exciting, Enthralling - The One With It All, Infusion '18!

Calling the life in an IIM a roller coaster would be, at any given point in time, an understatement. Call up any of your acquaintances in IIM during the peak hours (which is usually post-midnight) and ask them about their life, they will have only one statement for you; I hate it but I love it. The sheer breadth and depth of the activities that one gets to perform here are on a superhuman scale. For instance, drawing upon my own experience, when I joined IIM Rohtak I learnt more accounting before my first ever finance class (thanks to our pre-reads) than what a usual commerce aspirant learns in his entire school years. This, while I was familiarising myself with Mr. Kotler with regression analysis and product life cycles poking me from both sides was no mean feat for me at that time. Yet, the magnanimity of an IIM truly becomes prominent when the horns of their annual fests are blown. That is when the already skewed sleep cycle of its students goes for a toss!

Last Term Break Spent Well At IIM Lucknow!

While the past 4 term breaks were spent holidaying or enjoying time away from our busy lives on campus, this last term break came with a plethora of opportunities. For some, especially ones with work experience, this was the time to secure their dream jobs in the lateral placement process. For others, there were 2 half-credit courses being offered which would commence and conclude both during the term break. The two courses namely FIRE and Experiential Learning were unique in their own capacities. Out of the two, I opted for the former.

An IIM Ranchi Story

Sitting in the late evening classes of marketing, all I could do was refresh my Gmail Inbox. I was growing impatient as the clock was ticking beyond the scheduled time, and there was another 1 hour before the deadline for submission of a report. It was raining quite heavily outside, and I could hear the water drops hitting against the classroom windows. It could have been a good night to sleep off early, but things happen very differently here at IIM Ranchi. I had a submission at 9, a quiz at 9:15 and two interviews, one at 1 am and the other at 4 am.
