Rock music, Welcome drinks, Tasty food, Smiles and resounding laughter all at the same time - yes it is party time! The event that the freshers eagerly await from the time of their admissions as it provides a great opportunity to spend more time together with friends and to get to know each other better before starting a new chapter in their life.
As I sit writing this piece in my hostel room at 2 am at night at SCMHRD, I can hear a buzz. My head is buzzing, the hostel is buzzing, the entire campus is buzzing. The summer internship season is here, or as one of my more wittier batchmates commented ironically - WINTER IS HERE! But more on that later, let us start from the beginning.
Department of Management Studies, Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee, is the milestone appended to my timeline of life on 13 July 2017. This day marked the first day of my two-year journey in MBA at IIT Roorkee.
Indian Institute of Foreign Trade Kolkata is all set to host its flagship International Business Summit, Vivaan 3.0. The curtain will rise on 17th August, 2017 and it will be a three-day long event with panel discussions on various functional areas of management.
Before I pen down my thoughts about Life at TISS and all that it entails, from my perspective, let me take a step back and pen down my current state of being as I think it will in itself speak volumes about what I intend to.
Congratulations! You've finally made it to a b-school. After 4 years of engineering, and (possibly) some work experience, you now stand at the gateway to the next level and achieving your dreams.
Oh no!, I missed my assignment deadline again, shouted Ravi as he looked at his watch with one eye still shut and the other struggling to open from deep sleep. 'Dude, how can you be so careless?', retorted his room mate Sachin. Prompt came Ravi's reply, ' I am a fresher trying to figure out how to manage so many things that are being thrown at me one after the other, you must be used to this life since you have such a long work experience. By now you should have become the CEO of the company you were working in had you been even half as capable as I am.' To this, Sachin said, 'I agree that you are a fresher but what is with comparing your inexperienced self with me, if you have been able to submit the few assignments that you have has all been because of me'. 'Don't you think I should have worked for sometime before thinking about pursing MBA, it would have made my life easier in terms of sticking to deadlines at least', asked Ravi.
