Aditya Birla Group needs no introduction to anyone with its presence in 14 industry sectors ranging from financial services to manufacturing. We have all benefited from one or more of their offerings- Ultratech Cement, Vodafone, Pantaloons among others- whether we know it or not.

My Struggles with English | IIM Kashipur
I shifted from a small school to a posh English medium school during Std VI. I still remember the day when I was called to the Rector’s office. Having no idea what was in store for me, I feared that something bad awaited me. Entering the room, I saw my English teacher, Mrs. Dutta along with our Rector, late Mr. Bose. I had been selected to audition for the anchoring role of the school’s annual function. They gave me a prepared speech and asked me to read it out in front of them. The first event I had to introduce was an English drama written by George Bernard Shaw. As soon as I pronounced his name, both the faculties in the room started to laugh. I continued reading and had just finished with the play’s introduction when Mrs. Dutta asked me to stop and leave. As I was leaving, I could hear them mocking my accent and pronunciation. That mocking had a profound effect on me and I made it my mission to get better with pronunciation.

Aditya Birla Group is one of the largest conglomerates in India with over 45 brands under its portfolio. It was established in 1857 and has grown and helped India grow since then. People throughout India have associated ABG with trust and reliability. The company has been a constant throughout people’s lives. When we were kids, it was Freshwrapp that kept the food prepared by our mothers’ warm. As we grew up, it was in the form of Pantaloons-a one stop shop to fulfill all our clothing needs. Being a teenager in the 21stcentury, we all knew the importance of a good internet connection and Aditya Birla was definitely present there to fulfill that wish of ours in the form of Idea. When it came to MBA college interviews, we were all in need of formals and we found our perfect fit in brands like Allen Solly, Peter England etc.

Each and every citizen of India will know about the Aditya Birla group and its impact. Not only on the our everyday lives but also have a great reputation among the industrial experts. There was an incident where I came to know about the trust that customers have on the Aditya Birla products, the incident happened when I was working in a construction project, me being a new quality engineer waiting for preliminary quality tests to be carried out on cements for the next day’s requirements, but unfortunately the apparatus lost its calibration and takes couple of days to rectify. I explained the situation to my manager and explained that we cannot afford to wait since we cannot hold the production, it will cost the productivity heavily. My manager saw the cement brand name “Ultratech cements” and asked me to just verify the cement bags received are from only registered vendor or not. After checking and confirming the vendors list, Then he cleared it immediately and does not even carried out the quality checks, then he said only one thing to me, that is “you don’t have to check the bags from Ultratech cement, they maintain world class standard, all you have to ensure is that the supply is from registered Ultratech vendor or not, if yes then we are good to go.” At this point of time, I understood the trust that the industrial experts have kept on Ultratech cements, which is nothing but a product of Adiya Birla groups.
