I still remember the day I got my first phone. I was doing my high school and the mobile was a gift from my mother in exchange for studying and performing well in the mid term exam. In other terms it was a bribe that my mother offered me so that I wouldn’t flunk in my exams. I still remember that day clearly, me and my parents went to a Nokia showroom (yes those existed back then) and selected a model. The shop assistant asked us which connection to take for the phone. All of us were confused by that question since none of us till then had a mobile phone and connection. Hence, we asked him which one was good and he suggested Idea. I was so excited that without even thinking I replied in the affirmative. In a matter of 30 minutes, the phone along with the sim was ready for use along with a balance of 50 Rs. Yes, believe it or not that was the monthly mobile bill allowance that was allowed for me. The kid in me was so excited that I finished that balance in one night by calling up and telling all my friends. I got an earful from my father but being a good father, he gave me money for recharging. I was much more careful about the calling minutes in the future but Idea literally changed the way how I communicated with my friends. Previously we had to go through our mothers who would be sitting right next to the telephones and listening to our every word. With Idea we could now easily roam around the house and speak out of earshot of anybody. It still remains one of the biggest events that happened in my life and Aditya Birla Group had a huge role in that.

I became more acquainted with Aditya Birla group when my uncle took a dealership of ultra tech cement. Being the biggest producer of Grey cement Ready blend concrete and white cement in the nation , it has augmented the earning capacity of resident of India by giving openings for work and business alternatives. Before the advent of technology , the consciousness of a specific item in provincial part of India isn't sufficient. Villagers don't have the privilege to think about various items and pick the best among them. So at such a pivotal crossroads my uncle showed a drive to the mindful individuals about the contrast between the nature of local cement villagers used to build their home and a remarkable product of ABG named as Ultratech. During those days Television was a far-fetched dream for villagers in Odisha. So, mindfulness about an outstanding item was a fantasy that was a long way from the truth. It will require time to make people  aware of an exceptional cement brand. This was the first occasion where I have seen an ordinary individual from my village stepping up and making an item well known. This little initiative taken by a normal individual not only changed the discernment about a remarkable product but also allowed  the villagers to make the base structure of their homes more stronger. This is the means by which ultra tech cement is being showcased in my town by an individual with no marketing background.

But, being a hypocrite I would like to say that revenues and workforce are easily trumped by the impact they have on society and their goodwill. The amount of goodwill they have garnered over the years from people who are both their customers and not is reflected in their growth trajectory over the years.
