IMPACTING LIVES (IIM Rohtak)
One of the premier business conglomerates of India, Aditya Birla Group has been a household name in India for years. Active in 14 industry sectors and having achieved national and global leadership in several sectors, it has impacted lives in various ways. Like Aditya Birla Group I have also tried to make my impact with my actions and make it worthwhile. Since childhood the only wish I had was to become a doctor and serve people. But unfortunately that dream of mine was shattered as there was something else in store. I was completely broken but somehow gathered courage and after my graduation I sat for CAT and was able to clear it in my first attempt. Throughout this phase my parents were always there for me and supported in every way they could. My father comes from a small village and put our wishes and needs before his. So, it was a ritual which I and my sister used to follow on his b’day and on father’s day to go to a nearby Peter England store and buy him a shirt with our savings and gift him. The happiness on his face after we gifted him was an ultimate satisfaction which we got. So, when I had to go to Delhi for my CAP process, my father made sure that I looked my best on one of the most important days of my life. For this he took me the Van Heusen store and bought me a formal suit so that I present myself well in the interview process as appearance and dressing enhances the personality of an individual. So, I went for the interview in full confidence and aced it. All I can say is Aditya Birla Group has been with me throughout my life in one way or the other. Be it in interviews, or when I am waering a Pantaloons traditional suit in a religious function or when I am constantly glued up on the TV with my idea enabled sim in phone to answer the ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati’ questions or when house is being built with the Ultratech Cement, Aditya Birla Group is the one which has been throughout leaving an indelible impression on my mind.

How I overcame challenges to achieve ambitions in life?
Nobody sets out with a plan to fail, but so often we let obstacles get in the way of our success. The real success lies in being resilient, in having the courage to bounce back and take risks despite adversity and initial setbacks.From the difficulty in choosing the right vertical in grade 11 in school to moving to a completely different environment in college and adapting to it, to the hustle and bustle of work life. Melancholy became my new best friend and going to work and interacting with people became a task that I did not look forward to.Basically, each time life had its own ways of teaching me that survival in the world is tough but when life turns rough, you have got to fight harder.

CA and MBA was always out of my list of career options, as they were too cliché to be considered as an option, something that everyone chooses to pursue. And here I am, standing at the threshold of completing MBA with eyes beaming with excitement and aspirations, to form my career around Management, a domain which I didn’t even cared to give a thought a few years back. So what fuelled this change of thought? Finance. Finance entered my life through Economics fests organized by my department, a subject called Financial Economics which was my safe haven from the mind numbing theories of Economics and through all the tiny moments in the form of listening to eminent Financial experts, learning Financial jargons through newspapers, scrolling through Bloomberg to pass time and brainstorming to infuse creativity into finance at the time of fests, which brought me closer to and increased my fondness for Fin world.

Its wide variety includes a numerous number of clothing brands like Louis Philippe, Peter England, Allen Solly, Pantaloons, and Linen Club etc. It also has excellent products in other industries like UltraTech cements which holds together our houses. It is also present in the Financing, Insurance, Wealth Management and Advising sectors.
