Aditya Birla Group- A  US$44.3 billion company was founded in India, in 1857 by Mr. Seth Shiv Narayan Birla. The group first started its commencement of Business in the cotton industry in Rajasthan and now they have grown into the league of Fortune 500! They have employed around 1,20,000 employees from over 42 nationalities. ABG is one of the first names that comes to my mind when I think of Indian Conglomerates. Right from infrastructure, banking, construction, telecom, fashion, retail and the list goes on, ABG has got almost all sectors covered. The buildings I often visit are made using Ultra Tech cement, the formal clothes I wear as an MBA student are from Allen Solly/Van Heusen, the clothes I casually wear from Pantaloons, the sim card I use- Vodafone which gets me access to internet and connectivity, and the Mutual funds that my family has invested into is in ABG as well! Also, there are so many chemicals, fertilizers, metals, mines, carbon and lots more from ABG which we all indirectly use in our lives. I, along with my fellow Indians, can truly claim to be the most loyal and avid users of all the products/services ABG has to provide!

Growing up, our tastes and preferences change, but ABG never failed to provide us with the latest fashion in every price range. Affordably priced clothing at pantaloons, mid-range clothing at brands like Van Heusen, Allen Solly and Louis Phillipe and high range luxury clothing from aspirational brands like Hackett and Ralph Lauren, ABG has a portfolio to satisfy all our clothing needs, be it basic clothing or a preference for designer clothes. Apart from this visible product range, Carbon Black is the product from Birla Carbon which is making our lives easier in innumerable ways possible. Carbon black is present in almost all the objects we use on a daily basis. Birla has been satisfying our love for everything black for more than 160 years by being at the forefront of this industry. Sustainability is a major goal for Birla carbon, which further raises the importance of this group in our lives. Aditya Birla Capital is another gem in the portfolio of ABG which is a key player in enabling people in making their dreams come true by providing a variety of financial services. Above mentioned examples of products and services provided by the Aditya Birla Group cannot do justice in explaining what the group truly is and what it stands for. All that can be said is if being omnipresent is a myth, then Aditya Birla Group is a myth buster.

3 years ago, on a Monday morning I received an unexpected message at 6:50 AM that disturbed my sleep. To my astonishment it was my salary credit details (it was totally unexpected). I was excited but had to hurry so as to reach the office on time. All day long I didn't have time to think of what to do with the first earnings (engineering jobs are too hectic irrespective of whether you are newly graduated or experienced). On the way home from office I saw a store that had a wide range of shirts displayed. When I looked at the name of the store, the name “Peter England” flashed with its traditional red and green logo, at that very moment I decided that this is what I am going to gift my dad with my first salary. Aditya Birla group has always been an integral part in every milestone in my life. Starting from the Birla sun life insurance that my dad took on my 1st birthday to the “More Megastore” where my family shops every alternate weekend. The Aditya Birla Group's strength lies in the diversity of its people, their thoughts and their experiences. I still vividly remember those days when we were building our home in Kerala. The memories of my dad shouting at the contractor for not getting “UltraTech” cement still resonates in my mind. When the “Jio Revolution” unleased its tentacles couple of years ago, I said to myself, ‘Hey, anyways Idea is going to come up with a better plan, so why simply change?’, and I believe that this was one of those few decisions in my life that actually deserved the appreciation “What an Idea sir ji ”. I can resonate myself with the Aditya Birla Group as they are based on those same values that I as a person value.

If I tell you, can you imagine a world where we acknowledge efforts more than outputs? When I sit back and reflect on these lines, an advertisement from the recent past crops up in my mind. In their #ColoursofGrey campaign for Ultratech cement, the Aditya Birla group pays a tribute to the masons who build a foundation for our dream house. The ad shows how a humble mason is welcomed into the Holi celebrations when he goes on the lookout for his child.  Needless to say, if there is any brand which resonates with our grassroot ideals of life, it is indeed the Aditya Birla Group.
