My life, my ambitions - TAPMI

My life, my ambitions - TAPMI

I am a mountain lover. I find thrill in scaling mountains, travelling and exposing myself to the uncomfortable. I have a passion for high altitude trekking which has led me to explore a large part of the Himalayas. A particular high-altitude trek known as the Gaumukh Tapovan trek was on my bucket list for several years after I began trekking. It is considered as one of the harder treks in the country with a challenging terrain to negotiate and a stiff final climb up to the summit. I set my eyes on the goal of reaching the summit and began my fitness preparation. Although I had above average fitness, I had to work even harder to make it to the level that was required for this trek. A strong fitness regime and diet plan for two months made me physically fit to undertake the ordeal. The high altitude (14,400 ft) posed a stiff challenge. The air was thin, the oxygen was low and each step just made me breathless. However, I pushed on. Everyday the aim was clear – to reach the next campsite. On the day before the final summit push, our trek leader said that due to the weather conditions there is a high probability of not making it to the summit. I kept myself optimistic and hoped for the best. Summit day assault began at 4 AM with sub zero temperatures. Luckily the mountain allowed us to climb as a snow bridge was formed at a crucial juncture which allowed us to navigate the glacier. A steep climb from the shoulder of the mountain and we finally reached the summit. It was absolutely exhausting and I was completely spent but the joy of reaching the goal I had in mind revitalized me and in my mind I was already planning my next expedition. I learn a great deal from the challenges that I face on my trekking expeditions and apply my learnings in my life and management. Breaking down a large project into smaller achievable milestones like the campsites on a long and seemingly insurmountable trek. Always being optimistic and persistent even when the circumstances are not in favour. Staying humble and understanding that some things happen in due course of time.

BIRLA- THE BUSINESS EMPIRE-TAPMI

BIRLA- THE BUSINESS EMPIRE-TAPMI

Aditya Birla Group is an Indian multinationalconglomerate, headquartered in Worli, Mumbai, India. It operates in 35 countries with more than 120,000 employees worldwide. It all started from the Birla Haveli, Pilani, Rajasthan. The group was founded by Seth Shiv Narayan Birla in 1857 and was ventured into cotton trading. Through India's arduous times of the 1850s, the Birla business expanded rapidly. In the early part of the 20th century, the Group's founding father, Mr. Ghanshyam Das Birla, set up industries in critical sectors such as textiles and fibre, aluminium, cement, and chemicals. As a close confidant of Mahatma Gandhi, he played an active role in the Indian freedom struggle. He represented India at the first and second round-table conferences in London, along with Gandhiji. It was at Birla House in Delhi that the luminaries of the Indian freedom struggle often met to plot the downfall of the British Raj. Mr. Ghanshyam Das Birla found no contradiction in pursuing business goals with the dedication of a saint, emerging as one of the foremost industrialists of pre-independence India. The principles by which he lived were soaked up by his grandson, Mr. Aditya Vikram Birla, the Group's legendary leader. The Birla group has transformed into multiple companies and together has more employees than Apple, Johnson & Johnson and airbus.

A way onward since 1857

A way onward since 1857

I have heard people claiming how they trusted Aditya Birla Group to be their one stop when it came to fulfilling. Whom did I first hear saying this? My father, though many years later. He talked about how he saw his dream house stepping out of the paper and taking shape right infront of his eyes. He told me about my baby footprints that had been imprinted on the wet Ultra tech cement he used to build a life time of memories. It’s been long since we left that place but my house still stands strong in the incessant rains of Assam. So maybe this is why my father vouched for the same when his brothers talked about renovating their ancestral home from the muddy walls, I would always smell to the fresh paint this Diwali, again from the same group.
