I was an average student from the time I joined my school, I will always get good scoldings from my teachers for not studying and for not doing my homework, my parents are regularly called by the teachers to complain about me. My academics was poor that I hardly manage to pass because I study only in the night before the exam. Years passed I came to 10th standard , like all parents my parents also said that “ This is the turning point of your life”, but I repeat the same routine which I did in other classes. I used to roam with my friends, travel, go for swimming, play cricket, watch movies and sports etc. Somehow I managed to get distinction in 10th.
Going down the memory lane brings back the life of a brick & mortar concept stores of More megastore. It was during one such visit did I stumble upon a luxurious & valuable creation of art - An Allen Solly kids formal Prussian blue shirt. It grasped my attention & was the perfect outlook I was looking forward to don in my school's Annual day drama competition. 2009 , was the year when Aditya Birla entered my life when i settled in Bangalore along with my family. Since then the journey has been one like a sine wave ( ups & downs ) in terms of innovation , choices & creation of variety of designs. In these past 10 years , as I grew so did my relationship with Aditya Birla Group blossom into like one of Cupid's lovers. So many acquisitions of international brands like Louis Philippe, Peter England, Van Huesen , People etc. ( an enigmatic proposition indeed as these brand names could not be comprehended into the inquisitive mind of a child as INDIAN BRANDS... Sounds so foreign ). During this time period Aditya Birla Group as part of Madura Fashion & Retail Limited dominated its market presence focusing on both the Millennial's & Gen Z shoppers. Need of the hour was to think out of the box, be innovative, also acquiring the premium niche market. Sometime in the mid of 2013 , a new retail store of PETER ENGLAND opened near my locality & as part of the introductory launch offer there was a flat 40% off on all varieties. Due to the convincing ability of the store manager coupled with my impulsive shopping led to 2 pairs of pants - shirt & a reversible black brown belt landing in my wardrobe. What drew my attention the most was the "HONEST SHIRT - Beginning of all good things ". It did indeed really feel good to don these clothes. Right from the fabric to the nice texture & the color of the shirt made it all the more worthwhile.
Aditya Birla Group which was founded back in 19th Century has a rich history, of how it started with trading in cotton and now has grown up to be multinational company. It was set up by Mr. Ghanshyam Das Birla the founding father of the Birla Group, who started the industry by introducing it to different sectors like aluminium, cements, chemicals and textile and fabrics. The industry was further expanded by his grandson Mr. Aditya Birla who globalised the company and took it to new heights and attained the status of the largest single producer of viscose filament yarn. The group is also the largest producer of aluminum in the Private sector, the lowest first-cost producers in the world and the only producer of linen in the textile industry in India.
The Aditya Birla Group, the third-largest Indian private sector conglomerate, has probably held the biggest part in my life, among the innumerous corporates present today. With its range of offerings – from UltraTech to Pantaloons – it has impacted so much in my life, as well as the life of all of you out there reading this. Writing about it is just so little I can offer.
In Kolkata, during my childhood I remember going with my parents pre puja to new market which is around one hour away from my house, so travelling there especially in the traffic during puja is tough. Thus, we wanted a place which will be near to us. Thus Aditya Birla Group came up with pantaloons which was just 15 to 20 minutes from our house. The store was kind of a mall. It was three storey building having all types of clothing and accessories, starting from children to adults. During that time malls were not there in Kolkata and pantaloons were one of the first brand to open its mall there. Thus, it became one of my first visit and an idea of how a mall looks, where you get everything at a single place.
My connection to the world is through Aditya Birla Group. As the biggest day to day activity of my life is through my phone networking and the network that I prefer and use is Vodafone.
