I started my first year unsure of whether I even belonged in the sea of engineers in B-school. Then, I was selected into the prestigious student committee that conducted market research. I felt the beginning of a beautiful kinship with 50 other crazed people. That ‘beautiful’ part was a perception error.

Fortunately, I am one those people who haven't faced major obstacles in life. However, to begin with, one thing that has always held me back was the conservative nature of my parents. As a kid my parents were always hesitant in letting me try out new things. As concerned as they were, this always affected me as I always liked adventuring in every aspect of life. When I was in grade 4, my parents had admitted me to a boarding school in Darjeeling to carry out the rest of my schooling. The 7 years that I spent there was probably one of the worst phases of my life. I had faced a challenge in terms of everything, from food and friends to bullying and leading an anti-social life.
What are you most passionate about? When someone asked me this question, I had my answer ready – public speaking. I was thirteen years old when I began, and I realized very quickly that I loved it. I loved the teamwork and I loved the intensity and excitement of the competition. I completed school and joined college to find my second love – robotics. Robotics started as a hobby for me, when a couple of friends and I decided to explore in our first year of engineering. It later blossomed into a passion which would keep me awake, skip my meal and push me to take an extra mile. I was a young boy who loved debates and robotics more than girls and movies.
The experience that I am going to narrate through this article has by far been one of the most enlightening experiences in my life.
This is the year I decided to challenge myself and made affirmations that I remind myself of, all the time. I believe there is no job I cannot do, there is nothing I cannot achieve and that if I have to strike gold I have to sharpen my skills to face the challenges.
