Aditya Birla group has been a part of my life and my home for as long as I could remember. They have touched everyone at some point. A farmer using Birla Balwan to a housewife’s trust in Freshwrapp it has been there for us in every sector and every segment of the market. Building a house (Ultratech) to dressing myself (pantaloon, forever 21, Liva, the collection) I can rely on ABG. They have taken care of comfort, affordability, luxury, and reliability. ABG has taken care of every need that I can have.

Challenges of a new joinee on new projects - TAPMI
When I was working for Kirloskar Oil Engines Ltd., I was fortunate enough to be able to work on new digitization projects. I was also provided with the unique opportunity to head these projects and take full responsibility of all decisions. During my education, I had always been an average student and I was really motivated to be above average during my work. I wanted to strive to do better. However, there were quite a few challenges. With digitization projects in particular, it is tough to convince the experienced managers that there is a better, more efficient way of doing a certain process. It is even tougher if you are a 21 year old who is just out of engineering without any work experience. Some might even think you and your approach are too naïve. Their claims may also be true, but you have to believe in yourself. I debated with logic and whenever they raise valid queries I tried to rethink my approach and make changes in the project. In June 2016 we launched an electronic field service report platform. I was heading this project. Initially we had many naysayers and a lot of resistance from all the field teams. However, I stood my ground and I had a great boss to back me up as well. We weathered the storm of resistance and hate throw our way and today my project is regarded as a benchmark in the electronic field service report (eFSR) domain. Clients have sent appreciation mails and we also received an award from ICICI for our initiative. Being a mechanical engineer, I had no experience in digitization. I read up and taught myself of the various technicalities. I learnt to convince people double my age that there is a better and easier way to do a process they had been following for 10+ years. This helped me gain immense project development, project management and people management skills. Overcoming these challenges made me sure of my decision of pursuing an MBA.

An idea that changed my life - TAPMI
Aditya Birla Group has a wide array of companies under their belt, however there is one in particular which is close to my heart. I use the services of this company everyday and for various activities. I am talking about Idea Cellular Ltd. In today’s digital world being connected is the key to getting all the latest information. Idea Cellular provides uninterrupted service to ensure I’m always up to date. Without Idea Cellular, I wouldn’t have been able to read the latest news, watch videos to learn different things or even talk to my parents when I’m away from home. No matter where I’ve traveled in India, right from Hrishikesh to Pondicherry, I have always had great network. When my sister was studying abroad, I was able to video call and talk to her only because of the great quality of data and network that Idea provides. Each Idea store or service center I have been to has been a pleasant experience. Another subsidiary of ABG that I have used the services of is Forever 21. They have one of the best quality T-shirts and shirts available as well as a wide range of options. Whether you need to buy something formal, informal, as a gift or just a little self-indulgence, Forever 21 will have what you need! Many may not know Hindalco Industries Limited, but whether it’s a packed sandwich from your house or a restraint, the foil enclosing your precious food is most likely from Hindalco Industries Ltd! I remember taking packed sandwiches and kathi rolls to college for lunch, the foil ensured the food stayed intact and warm throughout the day. These experiences may seem small or trivial but when you really think about it, its these little things that matter the most!

Aditya Birla is a big name that, hardly anyone might not have heard or came across brands under the conglomerate. Aditya Birla has rushed into many industries and product lines that it has become impossible to not encounter products of the company. The company is involved in 14 different industries which are banking, cement, financial services, metal, textiles, fashion etc. The brands that come under Aditya Birla group are Allen Solly, Forever 21, Firetrap, Aditya Birla Payment Bank Limited (ABPB), Pantaloons, Louis Philippe, Peter England, Ultra Tech Cement.

I have been always an easy-going person in life. Since childhood, I never had to go out of my way to achieve something. All this changed when I entered my undergraduate college. Standing in a pool of highly intelligent individuals, I was no longer the best in the room. This was the time when I also realized that my interests lie more in the domain of finance. I was intrigued by the movements of the stock market and was fascinated by the stories of fortunes being made and lost in a matter of seconds. I had my eyes set on the financial services industries, but being an engineer, the avenues available to me were limited. I first set off learning the basics of finance and trading through college clubs and online resources. I also participated in multiple online competitions to pit myself against a crowd better than me. The results were mixed, win some and lose some. I received a golden opportunity to become more proficient in the field of finance when my college offered me a Minor in Finance, where we could study basic finance subjects under the guidance of some of the best faculties and industry experts. This was the time I realized that to fully achieve my dreams and potentials, I would need a formal education in finance, which only an MBA could provide. I started preparing for CAT alongside my internship at JP Morgan Chase. This in itself was a big challenge, juggling a demanding internship with an equally important exam preparation. Fortunately, I was able to secure an admission at FMS and am one step closer to realizing my dream. The journey has not ended in any way, rather, the next chapter has just started.
