An engineer's triumphant Finance internship

An engineer's triumphant Finance internship

Internships are construed to be either of the two extremes, a sneak peak into the corporate life or an explicit experience of the corporate life. The common thread in both cases, is understanding if what we have learnt, are learning and will learn is going to thrive your passion in the field. My internship was for a period of 2 months in the Finance domain at Dell Technologies. Being an engineer switching career paths into the field of Finance, the thought of interning at Dell in a domain unfamiliar was intense. Instead, this opportunity helped in establishing a sense of clarity in me as to which vertical under Finance my career would be oriented in.

Life is not a bed of roses

Life is not a bed of roses

As I look back I realise how much my past taught me to appreciate future and how every challenge is a blessing in disguise. I see myself transform from a very timid kid who had no courage to raise voice against anything that went wrong and who would be scared to be left out. Fortunately, life doesnot let you stay the same and thrusts upon you challenges and ultimately shapes your personality. From the day to day eve teasing to the gender discrimination that I underwent I was transformed to a more independent girl who feels herself second to none. When I was considered to be an average I proved them to be a hardworking district topper. When life asked me to leave the comforts of my home and find a place for  myself amongst different people and different cultures I gladly accepted the challenge and transformed to an extrovert. When I was about to quit from the college auditions because it was my friend who opposed me I was motivated by my friends to stay and fight and I am glad I did that and got the title I deserved. From the smallest decisions to the biggest ones I was asked to be independent and do what I think is right and that helped me to choose my career and land into a b-school despite all risks and opportunity losses I was made aware of. Ultimately I have realised that life without risks and challenges has no meaning, because life’s biggest rewards come from biggest challenges.

A dream, not dared to be dreamt by many - Jio Studios

The endless chants of going digital in all phases of life is turning to a reality across. Jio studios transported me into this world with their expertise in virtual reality, augmentation, content creation, celebrity management, brand management and the endless jargon's, defining the creative boutique that they are.

Marketing without sales

Marketing without sales

You have to start with a sales job before you get into marketing. It is impossible to become a CMO without working as a sales representative. This is what most MBA students get to hear before they sit for their summer internship placements. I wasn't any different. I was convinced that sales is something I need to do before getting a marketing role. Little did I know that I had something very different coming my way. It was a little over a month, we had the honor and opportunity to host an amazing company called LYNK Global. The company was recruiting MBA graduates and was based out of Mumbai which happened to be my home town. It was then that I decided to give consultancy a shot. The interview process had 3 rounds; an aptitude test, group discussion, and a personal interview. Having given the NMAT exam not too long ago, the test was easy to crack as my concepts were clear. Reading the newspaper and following various blogs helped me clear the GD round. The interview was case driven and was a little hard to crack. Having successfully cleared all the rounds, I found myself sitting in this amazing office in BKC, Mumbai. The employees who later became my colleagues were very welcoming. The transition from an MBA student to a corporate intern was made seamless by the HR team. During my tenure at LYNK Global, I had the opportunity to interact with some top C-level executives, Directors, Presidents and VPs, Managers and several industry experts who had an experience ranging from 5 – 35 years across various industries. As networking is a vital part of any MBA program, I have managed to build on the same by reaching out and connecting with mid and top-level managers across various companies and industries. This aided me to understand the nuances of markets and industries across the globe. LYNK being a global expert network has helped me work with people from various ethnic and cultural backgrounds which helps me grow as an individual and better understand the nitty gritty’s of international business. Reporting directly to the Vice President helped me understand the company and the industry better. It also gave me the freedom to pitch my ideas to improve the companies efficiency Working at LYNK Global has helped me improve:
