As an MBA Candidate, I believe everyday, there is a new learning. Not only from your professors, but your peers make a lot of value addition to your knowledge bank as well. And the best part, goes without saying is, NETWORKING. It is the best platform to learn, unlearn and relearn. Sitting for the Summer Internship Processes, was an interesting experience for me. You get to understand and introspect about your own self. You understand your own competencies and weaknesses, and every time thrive to be better, better and finally the best. Not only it gives you a better understanding about your own-self, but eventually you also start understanding what the person on the other side of the table, the interviewer, is really looking in you. And then you try to be as flexible as possible to make the interviewer realize ‘Why you?’. And the story does not end here, it makes you stronger and confident. It makes you understand that it is ok to get rejected at times, because not every place and everything in this world is meant for you. My motto throughout was constant, that, whatever happens, happens for a good reason; and so, there should be no looking back. We must always consider our rejections, as an opportunity to grow and not to take a step back.

College is something you complete. Life is something you experience

It was the first year of MBA, new excitements, experiences, learning, chaos, hectic schedules, parties and a lot of fun was waiting for us. The first three months of college were frenetic, roaming here and there for lectures, coping up with clubs and committee work, sitting through Guest Lectures, Freshers and preparation for summer internship process. It's truly said that times flies when you want to enjoy each and every moment, it was the start of September when the first company came to campus for the Summer Internship recruitment. The panic settled in then, being a fresher it was my first job interview.

Having more than 3 years of work experience in IT, I would just pray before the pre-screening of any company to be eligible to at least be able to attend the interview process. But it always happened that candidates with more than 2 years of work experience would not be shortlisted only. My preparation was at its peak, when there was a form floated for Bigbasket opt-in. I visited their website and collected information about the history of bigbasket, end to end operation of bigbasket, various labels etc. On the day of orientation, I was able to relate to a lot of the concepts and I even answered one question. So, the very first thing that I felt which was important was being proactive in our preparation and gathering as much knowledge as possible about the company. Knowing details about the company always helps, giving us an edge over the others. Next came our first round, the GD round where mostly our communication skills were tested. I had gotten just 2-3 chances to speak but the panels were mainly looking for candidates speaking sense with a good communication. I got through the GD and next was personal interview where mainly our problem-solving ability was tested along with basic marketing knowledge.

Dreams don't work unless you do!

I did my internship at HPCL in Chandigarh. My role was in the department of Automation where my task was to handle the grievances of the dealers and be on field visits to achieve this main objective. Usually, most of the candidates avoid on field jobs in their internships but in my point of view, it is very difficult to understand the crux of the situation unless you don’t step down in the market to know what the consumer behavior or how trends are!
