While I was crushing over Selena Gomez Street style for a while now, her outfits are just so effortlessly stylish. Whether it is an oversized white tee, skinny jeans, polka-dotted wrap dress or black turtleneck top and lots more to the list. I could easily create that with what I have already brought through forever 21. Believe me! I am the right person to say that because I visited the store to explore the summer collection and the aftermath of that trip left me to star-struck, or should I call it wardrobe-fantasy-coming-true struck? Because that’s exactly what happened.

Aged 7, I looked outside at buildings under construction, each, inevitably loaded with sacks of Ultratech Cement. Only then I had started recollecting everything I saw during my playtime to tell my mom and the image of a ‘strong man holding a big building’ on those sacks of cement was an image that I would always relate to strength. Looking back, that was probably when my relationship with ABG began.

I was born and brought up in a middle class family where my parents’ soul world revolved around me and my needs. So, searching for any financial or psychological challenges that needed to be overcome, seems like a challenge in itself. Getting into a top IIT after 12th was my long-time dream, maybe my fathers as well. So, I was sent to Kota for better preparation. Away from home for the first time in my life, I was overwhelmed with everything. Foreign place, foreign language (it may seems absurd but I didn’t know a single Hindi word), foreign food, even sun setting at a different time, everything seemed to be going against me. Though in a few days I made many friends who were very amused with my weird pronunciation. They helped me in every possible way. But the infamous food of hostels didn’t agree with me. This was the case with many people. Someone suffered from jaundice, someone from chronic stomach disease. Some even suffered from hepatitis and left Kota. Life there was hectic, missing even a single lecture meant getting far behind in the race. Such was my misfortune, or you may say my negligence that I became ill just before my 12th board examinations started. I was unable to sleep, severely ill. My father rushed to Kota to take me back home. But I was afraid to miss an academic year just because of my illness. So I continued giving exams, in the middle of the examination rushing to the toilet, the cycle continued. After a few days I sat for IIT entrance examination as well. I fared pretty badly in both the examinations. But the next year, I recovered, got back to Kota, sat for the exams again. That year, I didn’t get into the old IIT’s so I opted to study in the best college in West Bengal, BESU, and the second oldest college in India. The memories I made there are enough to make me forget the dark phase that I went through for a whole year. The phase seems like a distant bad dream. Now I am studying in IIFT, so whatever happened and whichever way happened ultimately led me to a great destination.

Aditya Birla Group has always played a big part in my life. It has mostly been through the fashion and lifestyle brands such as Allen Solly and Panataloons. Throughout my university days right up to the graduation ceremony all my formal wear was from ABG brands (Peter England, Van Heusen and Louis Philippe). Even as I start my MBA journey at IIFT Delhi, one of the premier B-schools in India, ABG brands form the majority of my wardrobe, from my smart casuals to business formals and even full suits.

Have you ever faced failure continuously? Have you asked yourself "why am I not able to achieve anything in life"? A set of incidents in my life made me ask that question too. I was just 13 and had just started to enjoy my vacations by playing tennis, football and watching an endless amount of TV. Man that was life. One day my parents decided that I was wasting my time and joined me in an IIT coaching class.

I was approaching one of the biggest educational milestones in my life, the 10thstandard board exams. The exams were just around the corner and a new chapter was about to get unfolded. With schooling about to get over, it was also the time for the Farewell for our outgoing batch of 2012. This was an event very much awaited among us. The event to many of us symbolized that we had grown up and now can step out into the world into the career choices each one had decided. Finally, the invitation cards for the big day were distributed, a nicely designed and beautifully written invitation. But something caught my eye while reading, it was the mentioned dress code. All of us had to wear full formal dress for the event. Some were excited seeing this, some confused like me and others sulking that they had to wear a blazer in such hot weather.
