From Architecture To MBA: Kritiika's Journey To IIM Indore

As Shakespeare had said “Life is a Stage”, for me that stage/ backdrop of our lives is architecture. I was fascinated with the idea of designing and playing a small role in the life story of individuals. I was thrilled when I got admission to the School of Planning and Architecture (SPA), Delhi. During the course, I learned a lot more than just design. I learned how to deal with pressure, how to handle criticism in a constructive way, how to manage deadlines, and even how to survive on less sleep! But above all this, the most important thing I learned was how to defend your ideas, and how to make your own unique idea functional and cohesive.

Why I Switched From IIM Indore To IIM Bangalore Ft. Shriya Agrawal, IIMB'25

Shriya Agarwal scored a 99.93%ile in CAT 2022. During her undergraduate studies, she was a part of the IPM programme offered by IIM Indore. However, in her final year, she decided to give a shot to CAT to get into her dream Bschool which was IIM Bangalore. Quant was a pain point for her throughout her IPMAT as well as CAT preparation. How I Made It To IIM Kozhikode As An NRI Candidate - Nihar Desai, GMAT 680

Coming from a middle class family and having to choose between sports and education, I put my chances on education. Getting into a high quality university in India is tough, but going abroad and competing with my overachieving compatriots for a place at a European university is a whole different game. I didn't even comprehend the challenge when I headed to the University of Twente in the Netherlands. Getting a European degree became even more difficult with the start of the pandemic. Exams were declared online so I decided to move back in with my parents to save costs. However, the university suddenly changed their exam policies due to a regulatory loophole and I was summoned back at short notice. Unfortunately, I had already lost my accommodation and I couldn't find anything within my family's budget. That meant I had to either find a workable solution quickly, or discontinue my studies. Overcoming my shame, I asked a friend if I could stay with him for a while. A student dorm room is small so my private space was restricted to a small section of the floor. However, that solution allowed me to complete two modules of my studies successfully.

I had always been inclined to do something that connected my creativity with my profession and fulfilled my heart. Just like many other young adults right out of college, I was also confused about what to do with my life. I am an engineering graduate and I joined the placement offer I had got from my campus like many of my friends and while I worked in tech, I kept on wondering what I can do to have a good career and also fulfill my heart’s will. It was at that time, in 2021, that one of my closest friends appeared for the CAT examination and eventually got into IIM Calcutta after a great deal of toiling and scoring extraordinarily. I was much inspired by her journey and her goals and I learned about the prospects from her in detail. She also had a creative mind and the interesting connection of creativity and analysis in business drove her into pursuing MBA and also drove me into starting my preparations for it.
