Ritika was almost done with Microsoft. She decided to move to Bangalore, left her job, booked tickets to Tanzania for a long vacay, and packed her bags too! And then her colleague at Microsoft popped up and asked her if she would like to move to the USA instead! In 3 days, Ritika Gupta, Ex Yatra & Dainik Jagran, MICA alum, had taken up her current role as Senior Program Manager at Microsoft Teams. In 3 months, she did move to a new city as planned, just this time it was in the USA! Having worked in India, for an MNC like eBay, and then a start up like Practo, her move to Amsterdam was what she calls 'writing a new book' in her life. She explains how life and work culture in Europe is different from life and work culture in India, going on to tell us what skills and abilities you need to develop to be able to thrive in a foreign workplace. Continuing her talk, Ellora takes us through her journey at ISB, and how she made the most of her MBA. Having already worked in an MNC (eBay), she decided she wanted to experience the startup life, and hence chose to get placed in Practo. Her time with eBay had equipped her with work experience, but her stint at Practo was nothing like before. This was her first stint at being a Product Manager, handling the medicine delivery and supply side of things. Having worked as a Developer gave her the advantage of a smooth work rapport with the other ‘Devs' in Practo. She calls this her ‘Get Out Of Jail Free Card'.
