In the book of Career of a management student, the internship has always been an important chapter. But since one chapter doesn’t complete a book, it has to have more chapters to form a story. Similarly, there are few phases before and after internship which completes the experience story.
I want to start from the beginning of the day when I went for my interview at Bajaj Capital Limited.
I spent my last 2 months as a marketing intern at Hinduja Group in Mumbai and I have to tell you, these have been the best two months for me in a while. Of course, time spent in college has been brilliant, but the moment you step in the real business world where actual work happens and your actions can become liabilities involving huge sums of money in no time, has a different thrill altogether. I was working with the media vertical of Hinduja Group which deals with digital content distribution.
Interview and b-schools are the two sides of the same coin. One cannot exist without the other. So, if you see, from joining a b-school till getting the final placement, interviews are a must, and everything depends on whether you make or break the interview. When you are used to this flow and things happen differently you are bound to be startled.
I got the opportunity to be associated with DCM Shriram as an HR intern in their summer internship program. I was selected through an interview process where interviewer mostly asked me questions related to current changes in HR and how HR is gaining more importance in the organization nowadays by contributing to the business strategically.
The commonality between an MBA and a race is that the first lap is certainly the most important, you take a lead there and you have set the tone to break your own records. Wondering what the first lap is when it comes to your MBA life?
