On 12th June, 2017 nineteen management graduates walked into a unique fast-tracked program of leadership - the Capgemini E.L.I.T.E. General Management Program. Coming from different backgrounds, geographies and colleges, they had one common dream. Determined to change this dream into reality, they were charged with energy and enthusiasm ready to enter into the journey of rigour that awaited them.
Did you know that the E in IKEA stands for the name of a farm, Elmtaryd, the name of the farm where Ingvar Kamprad (IK) grew up in Agunnaryd (A) his home-town? These facts may be insignificant but what is noteworthy is how IKEA has managed to stay ahead in the furniture business since 1943. For starters, IKEA doesn’t start with a competitive white Space or consumer trends. IKEA starts with the Price-Point. IKEA thus operates on a cost leadership strategy for sustained competitive advantage
Robert Kiyosaki once said "The most successful people in the world look for and build networks. Everyone else looks for work". Networking today, cannot be underestimated, and especially so for an MBA graduate. The baby steps in this journey begin with the alumni.
When I joined Capgemini's inaugural batch of 19 E.L.I.T.E. General Management Program hires 5 weeks before, the emotions that overarched in me were nervousness and excitement. At the start of the journey, I could not have imagined the huge transformation all of these emotions will have. In this small snippet of my experience for the first five weeks, I try humbly to put into words how various facilitators, places and processes helped in bettering the inexperienced consultant in me.
This post is not for the weak. It's probably going to confuse you to a lot and you might hate me for that. Though it's my personal opinion but something needs to be said and I am just going to say it.

Training is an important and useful part of handling manforce. However, it is also expensive in terms of both training cost and cost in terms of manhours spent on it. The good news is that effective training can give a higher ROI in terms of the training costs borne.
There are some experiences that you can only get through a good book. Or two. Before you realise it, you'll be in a b-school, running in a rat race, no time to get all the experiences you require for your growth. That's when a book or two will come in handy. Reading is a skill and a hobby that can definitely take you places. So, Read more books. Ask more questions. Observe and listen closely. Your life is just about to change. Presenting to you a list of books that will definitely come in handy before you pursue your MBA.
