Prashant Sinha is a PGP student at the IIM Indore UAE Campus. His passion for social entrepreneurship is commendable and also inspiring for his batch-mates. His recent initiative known as DharaviCAN has brought several promising businesses online which are running in the vicinity of this so called slum and remain unnoticed and unreachable. The Media and Corporate Communications Committee of IIM Indore UAE had a very candid discussion with Prashant about this initiative. Here is the full interview:
1. Pioneers: Call it serendipity. IIM Indore PGP Mumbai students of present batch and the passed out batch are pioneers of a whole new mode of management education. By choosing to create the history rather than looking out for previous ten years' reports, we certainly have garnered experiences worth treasuring. The constant guidance and support from our parent campus, IIM Indore is like an umbrella under whose shade we chose to tread a whole new path without asking 'what has been' and all the while discovering answers to 'what can be', to see how take a look below.
I have been working on InsideIIM.com for just about 2 years now in full-time capacity. In June 2012, I quit my job to devote all my time to building this platform. We have had our share of joys and struggles and a lot of confusion too! But, almost all our interaction with users has been through stories, comments on the site or via email.

When I was a kid my father shared with me a newspaper article on investment. The article contained all the mathematics showing the amount of investment required for earning a certain pension some few years later, adjusted for the projected inflation. This cumbersome mathematics was nothing else but a retirement plan. At the time I was too young to understand this, but now I really understand how important it is to plan for the future. But in these volatile times, securing only for the future with just a retirement plan will not suffice. Hence, we see a new cumbersome mathematics gaining momentum, and that is hedging.
