IIM Indore completed placements for what is possibly the biggest ever PGP batch to graduate out of an IIM. The number of 475 includes 30 odd students from the PGP batch at Mumbai as well. (This would come as a surprise to many and one wonders if the students from the flagship PGP at Indore campus protested against it.)

Final Placements: SPJIMR Mumbai - Class of 2014
We are happy to note that SP Jain has provided placement data to us in the InsideIIM format. SP Jain has been publishing its final placement report, audited by CRISIL, in the IPRS format since 2011 (read the 2011 report here and the 2012 report here ). We were unable to find the 2013 report in the IPRS format. At InsideIIM, our view on the IPRS format is that although it provides an amazing level of detail about salaries, it suffers from a drawback because it does not incorporate profile information (i.e. the job profile for which the candidate was hired). We appreciate the forthrightness of SP Jain for reporting its placements in the IPRS format, but we also believe that the quality of job profiles is the most critical input while evaluating the placements at a B school. The InsideIIM placement report provides data on job profiles, and we are delighted to have this data from SP Jain from this year onwards. We hope this is the beginning of a long and fruitful relationship.

Final placements - FMS Delhi Class of 2014 (unverified report)
FMS is still smarting under perceived slights from InsideIIM last year. They said they have taken a unanimous decision not to have any relationship with InsideIIM. They said that in our reporting, we have been biased against FMS and favoured IIM L and XLRI. We would like to once again reiterate that we are not biased in favour of any B school. Our placement reports always focus on the achievements and the positive aspects of the placement season. Our other research like alumni reports also does not discriminate against B schools. Our portal sees more enthusiastic participation from some B schools than others, but that is not in our hands. We certainly hope they would change their mind at some point, and start co-operating with us. Without their co-operation, we are left with little option but to look for information from public sources. We introduce this report with the caveat that the data is not verified, and readers are requested to act with caution while making decisions based on this information.

PPO, Anyone? 10 Tips For A Successful Summer Internship!
A lazy Saturday afternoon turned into a fun and fruitful session with Mr. Alex Joseph at NITIE! Alex is an alumnus and has been with P&G for 10 years since he graduated from the PGDIM course here. He is currently the Group Manager - India Logistics, and has had extensive experience in the front end of the supply chain. Invited by the Alumni Committee of NITIE, he came down personally to help us take our first steps towards one of the most important phases of the B-school life – summer internships.

Final Placements : JBIMS - Class of 2014 (Unverified)
In the first week of April, we thought we had broken the deadlock with the JBIMS Placement Committee. However, we are back to square one. JBIMS sent us data but it had names of companies that didn't recruit but may have 'participated' or 'confirmed participation'. We do not allow those names to be put as this practice is highly misleading. JBIMS says it is against their policy because it spoils relationship with recruiters. That is a very strange logic because - if recruiters were indeed desperate to be part of JBIMS' placement report, they would have actually recruited and made offers. How plausible is it that a company will decide to end/spoil a relationship (if it exists in the first place) with JBIMS because they didn't mention the name of the company in their report on insideiim even though they haven't make a single offer?

Summer Placements at IIM Ranchi - Clearing the path ahead!
The summer placement process for the 2013-15 class of the flagship courses Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM) and Post Graduate Diploma in Human Resources Management (PGDHRM) at IIM Ranchi was conducted between October 2013 and February 2014. 72 firms participated in the process, dishing out 210 offers to 197 students, reiterating IIM Ranchi’s position as one of the fastest growing B-schools in the country. Despite an increase in batch strength by 33% and an economic slowdown, the institute has been able to successfully emulate the trend of previous years. The season saw participation from several reputed corporate brands across sectors such as Banking, Fast Moving Consumer Goods & Durables, Strategy & Consulting, Automobile, Agri-business & Conglomerates.
