Musings Of The Only Female Doctor In A B-School
As I sit writing this piece in my hostel room at 2 am at night at SCMHRD, I can hear a buzz. My head is buzzing, the hostel is buzzing, the entire campus is buzzing. The summer internship season is here, or as one of my more wittier batchmates commented ironically - WINTER IS HERE! But more on that later, let us start from the beginning.

Atul Kumar Jha IIM Bangalore CAT %le 99.24 CAT 2012 My first encounter with CAT was in 3rd year, NIT Jamshedpur when I found my roommate buying coaching institutes course material. Being a Mechanical Engineer, all I wanted then was a decent job with a good pay. However, peer pressure made me enrol in one of the coaching institutes. Spent (rather wasted) Rs 30,000 as I hardly opened any book or took any of the mocks. Very soon the 4th year came and I got busy with my placement procedures. CAT was scheduled in November as usual, but I chose to skip it (a big mistake) and decided to go for the companies coming that day. Got rejected from that company as well. However, destiny worked in my favour and got placed at BPCL.

I want to live that hectic MBA life which makes you capable of tackling every problem you will face in life. From A Part-Time French Teacher To TISS Mumbai - Many Roads To An MBA
Till about two years back, I had no interest in Human Resource Management. In fact, I never even imagined myself in a managerial role! For as long as I can remember, I was interested in literature and social sciences. After completing my schooling, I had taken up English honours at Jadavpur University, where the eclectic curriculum makes it one of the best courses on English literature in this country. I had also been learning French since my school days and by the time I got to college, French had become my passion. All in all, you could say that I loved what I was doing! Midway through college, I was offered the position of a part-time French teacher at Alliance Française du Bengale. Although I had no previous inclinations towards teaching, I took up this opportunity hoping it would be a great learning experience. And you can bet your money it was! So when my graduation was done and dusted, the ‘safest’ career progression for me would be to take up teaching full-time. And that’s where the trouble began.
