Over the past two weeks, I have been receiving a lot of queries from fellow aspirants on different aspects of their preparation for CAT. While there were some questions unique to the individual, other questions were quite common. I believe the entire aspirant community can benefit from these questions and that's why I am penning down this post.
The first few days of starting your preparation for CAT are most important. CAT preparation is like signing up for a Gym. Everyone wants a very good figure and hence would join a Gym but very few continue going to Gym after for the first few days. CAT, much like a Gym, attracts everyone who wants to get into an IIM (and or want to get out of their miserable jobs!), but alas not too many continue the prep!
"Before anything else, preparation is the key to success". These are the words of Alexander Graham Bell, a Scottish-born scientist, inventor, engineer and innovator who is credited with patenting the first practical telephone.
Real estate sector is booming in India. With the lack of transparency and speculations in prices, this is one of the most complex sectors in India. There’s a huge shortage of skilled workers in this industry. Most of the professionals learn about the real estate business on the job itself without ever undergoing any technical training.
The recently published ratings by NIRF are full of glaring errors, of omission and commission. While the errors are so obvious to the experts and knowledgeable students, in the hands of a student or parent who doesn’t have sufficient knowledge it leads to wrong and indeed harmful choices.
On the onslaught let me tell you - It ain't an easy decision. Whatever you choose, you will have your second thoughts. People around you will sway your opinion every second day and it will all become a muddle with no end in sight!

To begin with, I would like to apologise for the long title. L’attesa, in Italian means “the wait” which seemed quite apt for the purpose of this article, and since I had to be clear to whom I am addressing this piece, the title is dangling on the edge of my Word file. Now, onwards to the actual purpose of this article. I am writing this because when I was an aspirant waiting for my results, all I could find online were “Advice for IIM aspirants from IIM students/alumni”. What about those who have already taken the plunge and decided that they do want to join this elite group, no matter the challenges! So this year when I am that IIM student, encountering aspirants determinedly (and somewhat desperately) waiting for the results, I am realising the need for a guide “for those who wait (pun intended)”.
