The cold morning breeze coming in through my window along with the shimmers of dawn, ushered in the day I've been waiting for nearly a year. It was time to bell the CAT! With all the confidence I had gained by scoring consistently well in my mocks, I looked forward to a helluva performance.
Hola fellow wanderers! Hope you are all set to join the b-school of your dreams. But before you do that, take a pause and ponder (as philosophical as this may sound). Address the very question you prepared and practised a hundred times for your interviews. This time, answer that question for yourself and more. Not for some interview but for making the best out of the journey you are all set to embark upon.

As the MBA admissions season for the year of 2018 comes to a close, students from across the country sit down to zero-in on the b-schools of their choice. It was around this time last year that I started my preparations for CAT. I went through multiple blogs and articles to define my perfect study plan. Though there were multiple blogs on planning the preparation strategy for CAT, none gave a holistic view of the whole process. The main purpose of this blog is not to advise on how to crack the CAT but on how to get into an IIM. And the right time to read this article is while preparing for CAT.
CAT, being a very unpredictable exam, can even get the better of very meritorious students on the D-DAY. People who had been aiming the IIMs and top 15 colleges and not able to cross that 95 percentile range are in turmoil. Zeroing down on one college requires exhaustive and extensive research on the available options and also careful weighing and holistic evaluation of the situation one is in. Typical tier-II colleges such as TAPMI, IRMA, IFMR, KJSIMSR come to the rescue for the aspirants for whom preparing another year is not on the cards.
