Share Your Internship Experiences And Win Prizes! - Class Of 2019 - Summer Saga
Hello! Class of 2019,
Hello! Class of 2019,
Summer internship undoubtedly is the highlight of the first year of your master's program in management. Starts with the anxiety of getting an offer, followed by a brief period of relief that lasts only until you're about to start work, post which it is the excitement of knowing your location and project and soon after it's the thrill of working on a challenging project that paves the way for massive learning. Towards the end of the internship, it's anxiety again – this time about evaluations and pre-placement offers.
To learn and bridge the gap between classroom training and practical life, Summer Internship plays a vital role for every MBA student. I was fortunate enough to get this learning experience at HSBC as an intern.
An MBA program is known for throwing together a curated assemblage of characters with diverse experiences, talents and stories with the hope that all of them would learn from the collective pool of resources that is at their disposal. There is a sense of belonging across all such programs based on learning through interaction that is prevalent in the fun we have during our 2 years on campus. However, ask any serious aspirant to measure the success of their investment and chances are you would receive an answer that has something to do with the organisations you join for your internship.
3 Dialogues, 2 Months, 1 Internship - The Godrej Way
Interning at a firm like Goldman Sachs was a dream come true! You go there with certain assumptions about the greatness of the firm, but once you are inside the premises, you realise that it’s much more than just great! The work culture there is unlike anything I have ever seen! I was blown away by just how accommodating and helpful everyone on the floor was! Goldman Sachs is a flat organisation and I routinely got to interact with VPs and we even had a session with the Managing Director of HCM! Needless to say, the industry knowledge and corporate exposure that I got in these 2 months was invaluable. My assignment was a relevant life project and its success could have far-reaching implications for the firm. The internship was a life-changing experience in the true sense of the phrase. When you have 8 meetings in a day, some of them with international stakeholders, you do get to learn a lot! I realized that while bookish knowledge is important, the real mantra of success is to be able to make the transition from just having the knowledge to actually applying it in real time projects. I also realized that no matter how big the firm is and how busy all the employees there are, you are never really left in the lurch. If you need help, ask for help! There is no shame in it. But shooting in the dark and not reaching out for help out of shyness? That’s a shame!
“Reserve Bank of India” – Whenever we say the name of India’s central bank, we feel proud that it is safeguarding all of us by taking care of monetary policies. I couldn’t even imagine the moment when I got selected for RBI’s summer placements program. I was on cloud nine to accept that wonderful opportunity.
We spoke to Garima Sharma, PGP2 Student at IIM Indore, about her experience over the summer at Axis Bank, where she was awarded the title of Best Intern.
