My journey from entrance exams to the XIMB campus has been a roller coaster ride. The joy of securing good scores in some and the disappointment of not being up to scratch in others heralded a journey of self-retrospection and analysis which would finally end in a decision that would shape my career. During my aspiring days, my list of target colleges was grand and the choices. As per my scores, I had pretty good options in front of me. As microeconomics puts it, I had to make a rational choice with the options I had that would maximise my satisfaction. So, I had to take a decision which sure was not easy. It never is because you don’t know the opportunity cost of this decision of yours. But still, I had to weigh in on different parameters, had to inquire with past students, take counselling about which institute would be best for me according to my strengths. Finally, I made a decision to join XIMB which I have not regretted. I have always believed in the power of association because association with the people better than you makes you better. So, I wanted to join a B school which exudes class and class is something that does not come by itself, rather, it is built over time by the students and their achievements. XIMB with more than 30 years of glorious history has built an unparalleled legacy and I wanted to be a part of this legacy. XIMB is known for its academic rigour and its distinguished faculty. Combine this with quality students which makes XIMB stand tall and apart from other institutions. I simply could not pass on the opportunity to join one of the leading brands of the country. I think I was destined to be a part of XIMB fraternity and I am glad that after a lot of uncertainties I finally ended up here.
ABG company I would want to work for:
The ABG Company I would like to work for is Aditya Birla Retail Limited. Currently, it is the fourth largest supermarket chain in India behind the future group, Reliance retail and D mart. I think this sector has the potential to grow and leapfrog the leaders but currently, it has stagnated. The More brand of supermarkets and hypermarkets give one of the best shopping experiences which are on par with the leaders if not better but it is not translating to numbers because of a very competitive environment. Its motto of “Quality first” has a grand appeal to the customers and the stores are making a profit at the store level but there is still a lot of scope for it to grow further. So, I would like to work in this challenging environment because I am someone who likes to set lofty targets and work hard to attain them.
