For the past two months there was a sense of restlessness in people about a new journey called MBA, probably considered as two most important years of our professional careers. This sense was justified as concerns about how various things will be managed are bound to arise in this new complex yet adventurous path.

And finally, here we all are today. The countdown had stopped and day-zero of SDA Bocconi Asia Center had reached. The largest ever IMB 2018-20 batch comprising of 116 students was incepted at SDA Bocconi Asia center. We were informed that the batch will have a very important role to play as it is part of various transformations the school has gone through this year.  Everyone had a heart-warming and pleasant feeling when they kept the foot on the campus. It has a very pleasant and positive environment, which thereby develops a sense of belonging right from the start.

The opening session was addressed to the 116 students by our honorable dean, Prof David Bardolet, followed by a confidence-boosting speech by our Senior Professor Dr. Anjana Grewal. We had another spectacular and eminent personality in the opening ceremony. Mr. Kevin Flynn (MD and CEO, Fiat Chrysler India) was present as the chief guest of the ceremony, providing words of wisdom and sharing amazing life experiences throughout his journey. One could not have asked for a better start than this, a perfect impetus to explore what lies ahead.

We had some good interactive sessions followed by team building activities. These activities seemed simple and yet complex, kind of a simulation of what and feel of what real-world MBA will look like. This was followed by an amazing welcome party thrown by our seniors and the management. Staring from fun games to face-off competitions between senior and juniors and with an amazing dinner and dance floor, in the end, it was one of the best starts that one could have asked his MBA. Thanks to Bocconi family for putting in so many efforts and making it a memorable day for us. Eager to see what lies ahead!

Which ABGP Company I want to join and why?

I am sure every MBA aspirant has an affinity towards working with big brands. I am no different from others in this aspect. One of the brands students aspire for, in India is to work with the Aditya Birla Group of companies. My personal preference would be to work with Idea Cellular. The telecom industry has a potentially robust growth market in India. With the upcoming merger of Idea cellular with Vodafone India, the combined entity will become India’s largest telecom company in terms of market share. Since most businesses are being disrupted and slowly being driven by technology, data and internet will have a crucial role to play. This will potentially attract immense investments given that data growth is yet to take off in a market having 1.4 billion people. Hence I believe that the telecom industry will have challenging aspects to work on and business folks will have a great deal to contribute to. To me, the telecom industry and Idea cellular seem to be a lucrative venture.
