It is always tough for a GEM (General, Engineer, Male) to decide which B-school to get in with a CAT percentile in the 90-95 range. With baby IIMs emerging from grass-root and other B-schools already making a mark, the decision was fluctuating as to join which B-school. Some even said getting into an IIM can give you that tagline and will be beneficial for the future run. After analysis of all of them, I made my final decision to join Xavier’s Institute Of Management, Bhubaneswar. It is one of the oldest B-schools with a legacy of 31 golden years. It is located in the heart of Bhubaneswar, within an arm’s reach from eateries, malls, hotels etc. Being residential college, it offers the best campus life for everyone. Be it birthdays, festivals or events, everyone remembers every moment. With rigorous academic schedule, small deadlines and lots of activities, it makes a perfect B-school to emerge as a manager. The B-school has active alumni connect which makes it easier during placements. My seniors from have said that these 2 years in XIMB will go like a blink of an eye, there will be good and bad and not to on regret them. XIMB gives a blend of working with the work experience grads and the freshers from different background: Science, Arts, Economics etc. Being a localite, it gives me an added advantage of knowing different places and helping out my friends. The seniors here have a crucial role in grooming since they furnish us with their experience. The faculty here is an A-class compared to other B-schools. They make it easier for us to understand concepts deeply with the tight schedule. With continuous quizzes, classroom discussion and exams, it is easier for me to keep in touch with the books apart from engaging in co-curricular activities. Thus, it is not the college or tagline that speaks, it’s the way we nurture ourselves for management that shows others where we are from. Proud to be an XIMBian.
Which ABG company I want to work for and why?
A retail brand by Aditya Birla Group, known for branded apparel is my choice of company to work in. I love the brands like Louis Philippe, Van Heusen because I feel their apparels define the importance of one using it. ABG Retail also includes Pantaloons, which was acquired from Future Group. We can get A to Z items in the mall. It includes varieties, qualities and quantities. It’s always a place full of the crowd with full of helping hands and the choices. Pantaloons is a retail mall present in the nook and corner of every city with a perfect location to reach. It perfectly applies the 4P’s of marketing. It offers festive discounts and clearance sale which is a value for money. Thus it defines the tagline “In love with life, in love with fashion” pretty well for me.
