It was 23rd may when I got a mail in my inbox stating “Congratulations!!! You have been offered a provisional admission for Post Graduate Programme in Management at IIM Indore.” That day my happiness knew no bounds. I was on cloud nine cherishing and celebrating the moment with my family and looking forward to the amazing two years at IIM Indore.

A lot of Pre-work was provided before coming to the college. I had to do the primers, Npad, Resume, the statistics course and the English course and what not. It was quite hectic because I also had to pack for the stay during campus. All done and I arrived at the campus on 29th June 2017. I was fascinated with the huge campus with lush green lawns, huge academic block, 18 student residences, a big sports complex, Swimming pool and all the facilities one could think of. No wonder MBA is fun, especially at such brilliant campuses. I got my room and checked in. Set up my room and was roaming around. I had no clue who was a batchmate and who a senior. Eventually, I talked to a few people, had my dinner and waited for the next day.

The next day I had my registration post which I met a few relatives in Indore. After that, my parents left and here I was alone in a huge campus with around 3000 people who were all unknown to me. Being an introvert it was quite difficult. Anyway, I got to know myneighbourr roomie and we talked and got to know each other and yes today she is one of the closest friends of mine at the campus. The next two days went intoan induction at the campus with an introduction to various committees and protocols and faculties and etc.

Then comes the third day after registration – The outbound Programme! Oh! It was an unforgettable day for me and one of the best ever days to be treasured for life. The programme was scheduled for the whole day from morning 9 am to evening 9 pm which eventually extended to 10/11 pm easily. We had activities planned for the whole day each of which gave a management leaning. And since the whole batch was present, it was a good opportunity for everyone to interact with each other and we definitely had fun. We had different activities played in teams and the day was coming to an end where the last lesson was to be taught. The last lesson was: “ To achieve anything in life one must overcome all her fears “. Symbolically, Fire was the biggest fear and walking on it would mean that you can overcome all the difficulties in your life. This was actually told to us before the beginning of the day. We all thought that it was just “symbolism” and noyhing more. However, at the end of all activities, we were actually told to walk on fire! PLEASE NOTE : IT WAS VOLUNTARY AND NOT COMPULSORY!!! That day, that very moment I decided to walk on it! It would be adventurous I thought, Eventually I was in the queue waiting for my turn. And here comes my turn. I had that adrenaline rush and excitement and fear and all the emotions but I was sure I am doing it. And yes, I did walk on fire that day!! It was ecstatic. I felt so calm and relieved and I can still feel hose emotions flowing out of me. It was so surreal and honestly indescribable.

This is one of the best memories I have of my college and it really was a great beginning for me.

I would like to work for either Grasim Industries or Aditya Birla Fashion and Retail Ltd. This is primarily because I belong to a business family. The business is about textiles. Having worked with my father for 3 months during my undergrad gave me a hands-on experience of what textiles is all about. Further, I had my MBA internship where my project was about risk analysis of the textile industry. This gave me a detailed overview about the value chain, key players, international trade, etc. for the Indian textile industry. Having a basic textile and retail background in the same I would like to apply that knowledge and also upgrade my skills in the same with one of the reputed brands which is Grasim or Aditya Birla Fashion and Retail Ltd.
