There are multiple things that make IIM Indore special be it the beautiful campus it has, the faculty, multiple parties we have and the humongous amount of learning we get, not only to excel in our professional world but which leads us to become more responsible citizens.
Spread over 193 acres, the IIM-I campus is located on a hillock. Away from the hustle-bustle of the city, as it is rightly said “Hillock that never sleeps”, this campus is so calm, serene and a delight to the eyes. Every day you wake up with the chirping of birds, with the campus full of lush green lawns and innumerable trees. The buildings are a good blend of traditional with modern architecture. The campus is surely a photographer’s delight.
Every year about 500 students join IIM Indore and each of them belonging to varied cultures add multifold to the experiential learning one gets during various in-class or out-class discussions that we have. Not only that celebrations are way too common at Planet-I with each of the festivals of different regions celebrated with great enthusiasm and excitement. We have Iftaar parties to Diwali celebrations to Christmas and what not where the entire community gathers to celebrate these festivals with great fervour. Not only that IIM Indore people surely know how to party with so often arranged DJ nights.
Life here may be hectic but it is never dull. IIM Indore does not only focus on academics but also experiential learning and lays special emphasis for us to be more socially aware, To facilitate this Rural Immersion Programme is a part of PGP-1 curriculum where students get a chance to spend a week in rural Madhya Pradesh. It aims to make us more aware of various schemes initiated by the government and its implications in reality. Also, after closely interacting with the people, possible suggestions are to made for improvement. This year PGP1 worked on the open defecation scheme.
Not only that, IIM-I focuses on leadership development and team building primarily through experiential learning, as an integral part of management. The Himalayan Outbound Program is conducted every year for PGP-2s. The week-long program included an adrenaline stimulating mix of trekking, rafting and a plethora of adventure sports as well.
