Sitting in the class of marketing, suddenly everything goes hazy and I rub my eyes as I thought the sleepless nights are taking their toll. But after continuously rubbing, I realize its not my eyes but clouds that are making everything around me hazy. At first, I was amazed and surprised in equal measure, but now even after 1 year, when clouds fill our classrooms, the feeling of awe persists. At my internship, I encountered people from various B schools, and all the qualms they had with their colleagues were regarding the weather and how the excruciating summer plays a spoilsport, and here we are at IIM Shillong, sleeping in rooms without fans and with a blanket on.
The thing that makes IIM S unique is not its glorious weather but also the solidarity, the participants build amongst themselves. The urge to help your wing mate not only during exams but through every thick and thin of life makes IIM S unique. Most of us are living far away from our homes and it typically takes 5-6 hours to reach our hometown. In such a scenario, we have a family living next door. The small batch size has its own benefits and birthday celebrations and placement parties are the biggest take away from this. A typical birthday celebration involves over 80 students which make everyone forget that they are miles away from their homes.
Living in northeast, brings along its own challenges and opportunities. The place completely shuts down at 10, making the nightlife almost non-existent, but the sleepless nights discussing cases and various other things make up for that. And if you can take an unbiased survey in Shillong, then you can call yourself undisputed marketing champion. The people here will go to any length to ensure that you feel welcomed and I haven’t even started on the picturesque campus that we have. The sunset view and the sweet falls will make you feel on the top of this world.
Lastly, I have to say that ours was the 7th IIM to get established, but it is surely one of its kind. The faculty, the campus, the peers and the list can go on and on, makes this place a delight to live and study at. I am in my second year and have already started to feel how much I will miss this place once I am out of here.

One arm of ABG that I would like to work in is Aditya Birla Finance as I have my relatives working there and they have only good things to say about the place. With Indian Banking sector reeling under the pressure from the mounting NPAs, NBFCs have come to the fore saving our banking industry and ABG finance is at the vanguard of that rescue process. AB Finance has shown tremendous growth in the past few years and hence I feel that can be the part of this revolutionary company and help our economy in a great way.
