A year has passed by in an environment where ambitions are upheld in any possible way. Placements, B-plans, competitions are the center of most discussions. It began in the first trimester. We were told in the introduction session that “Reaching to top is not difficult, staying there is!”. We all began to work for a distant destination, which was away, disturbed yet confident of getting there. We became so busy trying to reach the destination, the crazy and lovable part of the journey was left behind. Trained and destined to be future of the corporate world. To be able to do so there was a course “Self-leadership and Communication”. The course was designed to improve the expressing efficiency of future leaders. In the course where taught the communication skills like public speaking, group discussions, writing etiquettes, etc.
One part of the same course to be a great speaker was being able to tell stories to the audience before you. I remember the course being of 20 classes, and this session was one of the last few sessions. This session started with the facilitator telling us the importance of telling a story in public speeches and talks that we do. It was important to make the audience feel connected and help them remember the point speaker is trying to make. After the professor told his own story, which was meaningful and insightful, he invited willing participants in the class to speak their own hearts.
The session for students began with a girl, seemingly arrogant, blaming a person from the batch for some misunderstanding between them. It was advised to her to be soft and there is always a subtle way to express a person’s thoughts. There was also a student who was unhappy, depressed just because he didn’t have enough things to write on his CV. So, it all began after this! People started to share their darkest secrets in my words! Some secrets where so deep that I have never imagined people with such sufferings, pursuing such higher ambitions in the future. There were wide variety of stories told in class viz being a family problem to an individual instance that has impacted each of my classmate's life drastically.
The learning from the session thus help me understand that there are few people in life who suffered a lot and few an inch lesser, but what stays is an individual’s efforts to overcome problems. Every person has its own sufferings or own stories, but one should not feel pity for oneself. As soon as one gets this feeling the learnings, happiness, of the journey to reach the destination misses out.
Which ABG company would you want to work for and why?
I would like to work with Aditya Birla fashion under ABG for two reasons
- I belong to a town which is known as Manchester of Maharashtra for its textile industry and that makes more inquisitive towards this industry and paves a way to learn how bigger giants operate in this sector
- Latest trends show fashion is the sector after technology that is more volatile which for me is facing different challenges in a short span thus, adding most to the learning curve
