IIM Shillong, the only campus across India said to be the abode of the clouds, amazes everyone with the spellbound views wrapped with the beautiful surprises from nature.
Its been almost a year living in the Scotland of the east and it still seems like yesterday that I had stepped here with my share of dreams and aspirations. The journey, none other less has taught me something new every time – then be it the inspirational lessons taught by facilitators inside the classroom, the numerous experiences and habits of the fellow students or the natural beauty of the city.
As a matter of fact, this is the first time I had ventured outside my home for a full time residential course at IIM Shillong and to be honest, the journey has had its share of ups and downs. The bumpy rides along the way has taught me a lot about life, failures, values, ethics, personality, attitude and victories in life.
Although the temperature is cool throughout the year and we roam around boasting our colourful hoodies most of the time, but no one is really tired of wearing it. This is primarily because the campus offers a beautiful picture to witness in almost every season.
There are times when each one of our minds is stressed out and blocked. Times when things seem to be awry, a walk through the Scholar’s Path (the path that leads us to the auditorium from our hostels) and witnessing the different shades of sky definitely gives us a break from the tensions and problems in life.
Apart from the natural beauty, our campus houses students of PGP, PGPEx, and FPM making the IIM Shillong family complete. A greeting with a smile is ensured when we pass each other. When crazy stories pass through every wall of the corridor, waking up till 7 in the morning to complete group assignments, cracking lame jokes, going to the night canteen & walking through the campus at any time of the day, talking one’s heart out to a friend, peer learning to understand a subject, sharing future entrepreneurial plans, apprehensions about the future and always supporting one another in times of need, these are some things we are going to carry along in life.
Although our campus is situated in a quiet place like Shillong – but it would not be wrong to say that the mesmerising natural beauty, the ever-supporting faculty and the over the top enthusiastic students make the IIM Shillong campus an experience to be cherished throughout one’s lifetime.
