IIM Shillong Placement Committee

Hello my name is Shubham Srivastava. I completed my Bachelors and Masters in the field of Materials Science and Technology from IIT BHU-Varanasi in the year 2015. I have 25 months of work experience in two startups of the country which are Peppertap and Ola Cabs. The idea for pursuing MBA came from my college day when I was associated in the placement committee and facilitated placements for my batch. This stint realised me that I have the managerial skills in me and I planned to move towards management role rather sticking to Materials Science which was a research-oriented branch. Post my college I joined a startup called Peppertap with an intent to learn and have a hands-on experience in management work. I got an immense learning there working with some best minds of the country, from there I moved to Ola Cabs working as Associate Program Manager. The stint I performed in Ola was challenging and also a fun for me and after working for around 25 months I realised that this is the right time to go back to academics and gain some more exposure of the business environment so I appear for CAT 2017 and scored a 99.33 percentile which fetched me an interview call from IIM shilling. My interview experience was very pleasant, where it began with describing Varanasi as I spent around 5 years of my life there then it moved to my work experience where my viewpoint on individual work and teamwork was asked and finally it ended with some technical questions. In May the interview results were out and I got admit from IIM Shillong. The reason for choosing IIM Shillong was the pace of this college since its foundation from 2008 it has come up to a level with other top B schools of the country in a span of only ten years and I could replicate the same with my corporate stint working in startups where pace of growth matters, so studying in this campus will give me immense opportunities to test my water and to contribute to the institute’s growth.

I would like to work for Aditya Birla Fashion and retail limited as I have a taste in apparels and would love to work and learn in this industry.
