Location
Udaipur - Udaipur, known as the 'City of Lakes', is one of the most picturesque cities of India. Surrounded by the Aravalli hills, the city is famous for its great architecture and a royal vibe. It is a very cheap city, with rents only a fraction of what you would pay in a Metro. There are a lot of places to hang out, such as Lake Pichola, which consists of numerous stalls for street food.
The transportation at Udaipur can be problematic, especially in Old Udaipur. Uber and Ola services are available (the latter being more preferable), and the main mode of transportation is meter-less autos (haggling required) and sharing tempos. Udaipur is a slow city in general, and city-dwellers will take some getting used to the lifestyle there.
The Maharana Pratap Airport is 50 minutes away from IIM Udaipur, and low-cost carriers like IndiGo and Air India operate there. The Udaipur railway station is 10 minutes away from the institute in Balicha.

While Rajasthan is notorious for crimes against women, Udaipur as a city is relatively safer for women.
Kashipur -
Kashipur is a city which encompasses the Hindu culture within it and is a city of archaeological significance. It is also a business hub and houses major industrial units, including Videocon, HCL Technologies etc, and has operational plants of companies Parle, Titan, Mahindra, Dabur etc.
Much like Udaipur, this city in Uttarakhand is very picturesque, and while it may not be the city of 7lakes, it does have 2 lakes - Drona Sagar Lake and the Giri Sarovar Lake, adding to the beauty of this city.
The nearest airport, Pantnagar Airport, is over 1.5 hours away from IIM-U, while the Kashipur Railway station is 20 minutes away from the institute.

Summary -
Both these management institutes are unique in their own ways, but a common factor they share is the high-paced growth of the institutes. Having shifted to permanent campuses, they are now in a position to provide all facilities of a premier b-school, attracting big recruiter names to their campuses.
With a healthy foreign exchange in place, as well as a strong alumni network, these management institutes can be your preferred choice when it comes to selecting a new generation IIM.
