Free CAT Mocks 2025: Daily Sectionals!
THE INITIAL REACTIONS
So, I went for my IMT interview on 16th Feb 2025. My venue was in Kolkata. I was very chill since the morning, but as I stood outside the venue, I started to feel something that I hadn't felt before.
Although it was not my first interview of the season, it was the first offline interview in a lavish hotel with such a huge crowd.
I went to the registration hall, took a seat, and observed what was going on in there (I arrived after the announcement for registration had already been made). I maintained the procedure and got my registration done, and received a room and a serial number.
THE CT ROUND
As the registration of all the candidates was done, we got our next instruction, the CT round. We were given 20 minutes to write on the topic "Minimalism is good. Consumerism is bad". I was very comfortable with this topic as I read a lot of articles similar to this one. I got very relaxed and started writing. It hardly took 10 minutes for me to finish. After those 20 minutes, we got our next instruction. The PI round. But before that, we were given a short break of around 15 minutes.
THE PI ROUND
Everyone started to move towards their allotted PI rooms as the allotted serial numbers were announced. When my turn came, I took the lift and went there, sat outside the interview room quietly. A bell rang and I was called inside. There were two panelists, both male, one very experienced and another in his middle age. For the majority of the interview, the one who looked experienced sat quietly and was observing me. The second interviewer started the interview.
Me - Good Afternoon panelists.
Both responded
Interviewer 2 - So Rishav, tell me about yourself.
This was a question I was well prepared for, but surprisingly, I fumbled that day. I forgot a few important points (perhaps because of the atmosphere: a luxurious room with pin-drop silence, the door locked, and two panelists gazing at me with poker faces, all of which created a tense environment).
Interviewer 2 - Why did you choose to do B. Pharm?
Answered this very well. I explained my areas of interest and how it would help me in my future aspirations.
Interviewer 1 - Why did you not go for a medicine degree? Why B. Pharm?
I explained my perspective, why I wasn’t very keen on pursuing a medical degree and instead preferred a technical course like B. Pharm, and how that choice eventually influenced my decision to pursue an MBA.
Interviewer 2 - What are the subjects that you studied?
There were a lot of subjects over those four years, so I first mentioned the core subjects of pharmacy and then tried to recall and list as many others as I could (I should have mentioned my favourite subject, which I unfortunately didn’t).
Interviewer 2 - What is an orphan drug?
I couldn’t remember it exactly at that moment, so I asked if I could take a guess, and they allowed me to. I took the guess, and they said I was incorrect. (Later, I found out that I wasn’t entirely wrong but had made a small mistake in the final part of the answer)
Interviewer 2 - The online medicine platforms don't have a drug license so should they operate? What are your views?
This is something of a trending topic in the pharmaceutical industry. I shared my opinion on it.
Interviewer 2 - What are the scopes after B. Pharm?
Answered and mentioned MBA as well.
Interviewer 1 - Why MBA?
I already mentioned some of the points in my previous answers but represented this answer in a more consolidated form.
Interviewer 2 - Why did you not join a pharmaceutical industry?
Told them why I am more interested in the management aspects of the pharmaceutical industry rather than research or technical parts
Interviewer 2 - What are generic and branded drugs?
Answered
Interviewer 2 - What are the differences? (I guess they wanted to know something more or maybe I missed some point)
Gave a more structured answer
Interviewer 2 - Are the generic drugs less effective?
Answered
Interviewer 2 - Why?
Tried to answer. Not sure if they were satisfied with that.
Interviewer 2 - What are your hobbies?
Answered enthusiastically
Both - Okay thank you and all the best. Offered a toffee kept on the table and both the panelists shook hands.
CONCLUSION: IMT Ghaziabad Interview
This was by no means my best interview, but the experience helped me excel in nearly all of my subsequent interviews (I wasn't rejected in any of them, though I was waitlisted for a few). This experience taught me how to maintain composure during interviews and not get distracted by the surroundings, no matter what they may be.
Although I was a bit tense, I tried not to show it. I didn’t display any visible signs of nervousness (even though I was nervous) and kept a gentle smile on my face throughout.
VERDICT - Converted IMT DCP and Waitlisted for Core
