This Summer I got an opportunity to be part of Royal Brothers, a bike rental company as a summer intern for 8 weeks. This was one of the best times of my life as I got to experience real life scenarios. Prior to this all the concepts which I studied was only confined to books but working on real scenarios led me to think and apply my concepts beyond the bookish knowledge. Things described in the book and in real life are fundamentally the same but the applications may vary. It made me realize that the strongest skill along with strong fundamentals in a real time scenario is "Native Intelligence". It also made me realized that things are not always so complicated as we think rather a simpler approach would solve much difficult problems. Speaking of which an instance during my internship where I was trying to solve a problem of the company relating to the warehouse management for Royal Brothers regarding the separation of used and unused spare parts the solution to which was achieved not by the 5s but rather sense which is not so common these days "Common Sense". We as individuals these days have a habit of looking at all things in a complicated manner and thinking in all the quadrants but not in a simpler manner. So, this was the first lesson learnt by me during these 8 weeks to look at all the problems with a simple scope before using all the "jargons" mentioned in various books.
No individual in an organization is big or small. Each one in an organization has their role to play without which the organization's growth hampers. One should realize roles of each and every individual is as important as any member of the organization and all should be considered as part of the team; no matter which role he/she has to play in an organization.
When coming to the quadrant of marketing in any organization ; no matter the sector this holds true in every case; which is knowing the core operations of the company ie the revenue from the operations and client/customer satisfaction. Without the complete knowledge of company's operations making any kind of promotional or discount offers for the customers is of no use. "One needs to know how much one earns before he spends". Along with these one can never forget the fact that customer is God and customer satisfaction is much more essential than making new customers. Its the relationship with the customers we as an individual or as an organization which needs to be forged. This is the only key to success for any organization.
Last and certainly not the least to say; working in teams to achieve a common goal ie an organization's success is also very important.
Great leaders are not the ones who just lead from front rather are those who lead in unison with their teams. One should rather have more of team spirit in an organization than individual role to play.
I would like to thank Royal Brothers for giving me this opportunity to be their part and wish that each and every thing that I learnt during my short period at the company would help me in my future endeavors to come!
This kind of experiences cannot be taught or learnt from the books; rather one can experience them only in real scenarios of life.
