I know I am restricting myself to 5, but here are few of the craziest Humans of Balicha, who make me feel special at IIM Udaipur.
“The Other Shantanu”
Yes, that is what everyone used to call him (I wish :P). We met on the registration day when I thought my chance finally came, and there was this guy with a creepy smile and he said: “Oh so you are also Shantanu?”. The name is not the only thing we have in common though. From being neighbours in the classroom for the first year to being neighbours now in the hostel and also being a part of the Placement Committee, we have always been very close to each other. A Hyderabadi cum Maharashtrian guy, who studied Economics at BITS Hyderabad, post which he was a part of a start-up, which in his own words “Is on Autopilot”, he is the perfect brother to have on campus.
“Lord Baheti”
All hail the Father of “Globe”, bearer of many embarrassing awards, Lord of Nagpur, Ankit Baheti. Before IIMU, he had his start-up, post graduating from NIT Durgapur. As we both share the same hometown, we started interacting even before IIMU journey began. He is the Dark Knight of our batch. He ends up getting “GPLed” during others’ birthdays and he always lands himself in trouble, he speaks A LOT, but still, you won’t find anyone as humble as Baheti. He has been my neighbour from the very first day (my bad luck?), and hence, he has spent the most time with me (vice-versa is not true :P). The student Council Member you can always trust and reach out to when you need a shuttle to go out.
“Salonely”
Another Placecomm family member, Saloni Vats and I interacted with each other when we got elected to be a part of the Placement Committee. Almost a fresher (2 months at TIME), Saloni has done her B. Com from Jaipur and is the epitome of Mood Swings. Every day she is a different person, one day she will be very emotional and sweet, and the very next day she can be cranky and rude. This makes her eligible to be called as my campus sister. If you want to draft a killer mail, she is the person one should go to.
“Bhati”
Queen of Jodhpur, but still a kid at heart, long curly hair but the same can’t be said about her height, introducing my best friend, Vaishali Bhati. From being a part of the literary club to teaching people skateboarding in the campus, you can literally spot her anywhere and everywhere. God knows how she manages to be good friends with almost everyone. A profile cannot get crazier than hers. She started her life at Kota to start a medical journey, but left that to complete her BBA, worked at a very successful start-up for 13 months and now she is here. Please stay away from her if you hate Real Madrid, her angry looks can be really scary at times.
“Rajjo”
Rajan Kashyap, my roommate during the first year. If you want to spot him, then look out for a guy with a bad goatee, uncle type hairstyle, and someone who is trying too hard to impress a girl. Even though he hails from Shimla, god knows why he thinks he is a Punjabi at heart. He comes with a rich operations experience at General Electric and can be seen helping out girls before operations exams. He can sing and play instruments like Guitar, Drums, Tabla, Mouth Organ, Table, Chair, Bucket, etc. He is a part of the Cultural Committee and the Music Club, and that is the only right decision he has taken in his whole life. But yes, if you ever need some music in your life, just spend 10 minutes with him.
Which ABG company would you want to work for and why?
I would like to work for Aditya Birla Retail Limited, the reason for that is pretty straightforward for me. I joined IIM Udaipur to start my career in Sales and Marketing domain. My internship profile was also in the same domain. Under Sales and Marketing, Sales is what intrigues me more. After learning about how companies manage their Sales & Distribution Channels in a course, there is no better company than Aditya Birla Retail Limited to start my career with. A company in modern retail I feel would be an interesting playground for a Sales enthusiast like me.
