“To each our own.”
That’s probably the truest answer one could come up with for this thought. For me, it’s the relative size of our campus. You think that’s weird? Allow me to substantiate that.
XIMB campus is spread across 20 acres complete with football ground, tennis court, gym, hostels, faculty block and academic block. In other words, its pretty small compared to most other campuses which are in league. However, this small size has done more good than 50 acres plot. How?
Firstly, small size means all 720 of us have lesser space to hang out and hence, more people to hang out with. If you ever doubt that, all you have to do is visit Cenderet night mess in the XIMB evening hours (which is, of course, 2 am) to find it buzzing with chit-chatters. Or perhaps, you could enjoy the soulful music, gulping down peach iced tea with sandwiches, at the Two & a Bud, over a friendly basketball match. Even less familiar faces have become best of friends while waiting for their order to arrive.
Secondly, it is the only reason why you could wake up at 7:50 am for 8:00 am lecture and still reach the class on time (unless, of course, you are accommodated in Studio Apartments). Now, that might not seem as important but when you are sleeping post 3 am every day, barely adhering to the deadlines and is hanging by a thread to avoid grade cuts, this small distance will mean much more than vast expanse of lush green fields.
And lastly, I am gonna talk about how our small campus helps in completing assignments. Sounds far-fetched? Well, not really. This campus has brought us all together. We are a close-knit community of homo-sapiens who eat together, party together and also, study together. Which means whether it’s a quiz tomorrow or an assignment deadline at midnight, you will always find a helping hand nearby. Some would call it jugaad but we call it team work. And this team in XIMB is two batches of one whole family – Xavierites.
