1. A Memorable Classroom Experience in my B-school

“ As a student, I didn’t expect it but as a PR Head, I should have!”

That’s what I said upon being asked about the sudden interruption during a rather usual case-based role-play one would expect in an Organisational Behaviour class at Planet-I ( a name that makes IIM Indore more homely than just a B-school ).

The setting was about an unfortunate turn of events for a toy manufacturing company here in India. Currently, one of their popular products was receiving a lot of flak because of small parts that were hazardous if swallowed by toddlers. Despite the company’s advertising efforts requesting for parental guidance, there were 5-6 deaths attributable to the company’s products. While it wasn’t legally liable, there obviously loomed the threat of public outrage and inaction on the ethical front. Not that the company wanted to absolve itself of the occurings, it was more about handling the delicate situation at hand.

This was the context for the role play. We were 5 students who were assigned titles comprising CEO, Marketing Head, PR Head (I), Legal Advisor and CFO, each with own agendas which weren’t disclosed to or known by any other executive. We were to conduct an urgent meeting and decide the next course of action.

As we were carrying out the meeting, a herd of furious people burst into the classroom, rather, the ‘conference room’, yelling slogans against the company and management, pelting stones and threatening to file cases against the organisation and individuals as well.

We were taken aback - there was capricious oscillation between roles as executive managers and students. While we miserably failing at controlling the mob, most of the other students were as much in shock but with the comfort of oblivion. There were some though, who were enthusiastic and empathetic enough to help us victor the situation.

That was a session full of revelations and on many levels. It is for days like these, that I am grateful for my own set of B-school memories.

2. Which ABG company would I want to work for and why?

“... And Ever Since, Aasaan Hui Zindagi”

Wouldn’t it be lovely to know that you work for an organisation which accelerates growth and prosperity in their lives!?

The recent concept of ‘Payments Bank’ is truly incredible from the financial inclusion point of view, especially with the growing digital focus. Yet, given its very definition, reliability, robustness and service quality are some of the key wheels without which this vehicle would collapse, and take the passengers along with it.

With Aditya Birla Group’s legacy of successful business operations and the trust stakeholders park with the brand, the ABPB is sure to pave the next path to unique and innovative banking solutions to suit the needs of all. All of this, at healthy profits.

Having pursued relevant courses in finance alongside completing an internship in the global Investment Banking leader, I have cemented my interest in the banking & finance industry.

There is little which could be more prestigious than working for Aditya Birla Group, and further, for something so innovative and tangible as its Payments Bank. I believe that I can contribute to the organisation constructively and it would be enriching and incredibly rewarding for me at the same time.
